In order to reduce the stress of moving, it’s important to be as organized as possible. The more organized you can be, the smoother the sailing will be when it comes to moving in day. Things to have organized include having your item packed-up (It may be worth considering a professional packing services), you’ll want to have your moving van booked in as well as insurances sorted such as your content insurance. Below we look more into these three things.
Book Your Moving Van
When you have a move in date and you are happy it’s not likely to change, book your move in van as soon as possible. Often, the more in advance you book your van, the cheaper it will be. By booking in advance you also avoid the possibility of your chosen company being fully booked. When getting quotes, we would advise you to get multiple quotes to make sure you are getting a good price. It’s also advisable that you look online at their customer reviews to ensure you can trust them and that they are a reputable company – some companies use TrustPilot for official customer reviews.
Organize Your Insurances
Depending on if you are moving into a rented home or a purchased home, there will be different insurance products that you should consider purchasing. Some products are a must such as contents insurance, whilst others are optional like accidental damage to your gadgets. Similar to booking your moving van, when looking for insurance make sure you run quotes on multiple sites. The prices can vary hugely and the coverage each company offers may differ slightly, which is why it’s worth comparing your top options to make sure they both cover what you need – it’s important to look after your finances!
Start Packing ASAP!
Depending on if you have moved before, packing is one of those tasks that a lot of people underestimate and it takes them a lot longer than they initially think. When you have your move-in date, start packing as soon as possible. Start by packing room by room as this can help you be more organised and reduce the mess and remember to label each box as you pack it – this will help you when it comes to moving into the new property and knowing where to place your boxes. If you are after moving boxes, you can order these online and if you have a lot of items, it may be worth considering getting a packing expert in to help.
