Cleaning your home is never fun, and rarely is it ever easy. By now, many of you are probably well into your spring cleaning preparations. Yes, I know spring is still a good couple of months away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t prepare for what lies ahead!

If you decide to buy something you see mentioned here, I would be so thankful if you clicked through my links so I can receive a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you! Please read my full disclosure.

Speaking of which, I have a little list for you of some essential things you need to get your hands on in preparation for a big clean. I’m sure you’ll find everything on this list extremely useful when the time comes!

Air Purifier

I find that an air purifier is essential when cleaning your home. My reason is that you may clean your house from top to bottom, but the air in your home might not be ‘clean.’ There are loads of allergens and things in the air that aren’t great, and an air purifier gets rid of them. Not only this, but as it alludes to in an article on lifehack.org, air purifiers also help get rid of dust. So, this makes your cleaning task a lot easier and more effective too. Instead of wiping the dust off surfaces into the air, you get rid of it completely.

Fragrance Diffuser

To go along with your air purifier, you should also bag yourself a fragrance diffuser. What does this thing do? Well, as you can see on aromatech.com, (where you can even find one diffuser to scent your entire home), fragrance diffusers use different oils to give off a natural scent in your home. Why is this useful during a big clean? Because it makes your house feel as fresh as it will look after cleaning everything. It’s one thing to make your home look nice and clean, but does it smell nice and clean too? Adding some fresh fragrance will do it a world of good and make all your hard work appear even better.

Rubber Gloves

Trust me, you don’t want to start cleaning your home if you haven’t got a pair of rubber gloves handy. From one perspective, they simply make the task more hygienic as you don't have to touch any muck or grime with your bare hands. From another perspective, they’re essential for your health and safety. Think about it, you’ll be using all manner of chemical cleaning products, some of which shouldn’t come into contact with your skin. So, rubber gloves keep you safe and free from any irritation.

A Good Vacuum Cleaner

Your vacuum cleaner is your best friend when it comes to a big clean. There are loads of other bits of cleaning kit you need – such as microfiber cloths for dusting, and a nice mop for cleaning floors – but a good vacuum is a top thing. Ideally, you want one that has a good power setting and can pick up even the toughest things that are buried deep in your carpet. Also, it should come with an extendable hose so you can reach up high and hoover up dust and cobwebs from the ceiling. A range of attachments will also be very beneficial too!

Clearly, there are lots of other things you need that didn’t quite make this list. However, I feel like these four things will come together to ensure you have a house that’s truly clean. Not only will it look clean, but it will also smell and feel clean too.
