thermostat temperature gauge But Family, It's Cold In Here! With the weather now officially around freezing, most of us are fighting to keep warm. In many households, this involves cranking the heat and closing the curtains. Then, we snuggle in for nights under blankets with hot drinks to warm even our hearts.

It’s the stuff of winter home dreams. But, it isn’t a reality for everybody. Sometimes, you and your family may disagree on which temperature is ‘right'. We all deal with heat and cold in varying ways, after all. The perfect heat for you may feel like a sauna for your kids or vice versa. Disagreements like these can lead to major troubles at home. You could, of course, get around them by playing the parent card. But, it’s also essential everyone feels comfortable. That's why it’s worth considering these pointers, to ensure all round happiness.

[ctt template=”4″ link=”9aDe6″ via=”yes” ]Sometimes, you and your family may disagree on which temperature is ‘right\'. It’s worth considering these pointers, to ensure all round happiness. [/ctt]

The base temperature

First, work out your base temperature. This is a heat which everyone is happy with. Most often, it’ll be around 20 degrees C. Sit down with everyone, and ensure they’re happy with this. Then, turn to a company like R&T Services Inc who can install a heating unit to maintain it. If you ever feel chilly and notice it’s below the base you chose together, you can crank the heat a little without worry. We all need this temperature to return to. It’s the judge of whether we turn on the heat, or grab a blanket. Without a guide, you may overdo things, and that’s when problems arise. Avoid arguments by ensuring everyone in the family knows the base temperature and sticks to it.

The power of compromise

In family homes, compromise is always essential. This is a shared space, after all, and you should all accommodate each other in some way. Once you have your base temperature in place, you each need to work on making compromises. For those who feel the heat, this may mean stripping down to t-shirt and shorts of an evening. For the cold-blooded among you, it means grabbing a blanket or putting on an extra layer. All these things will help you reach your desired temperature. Even better, they won't make any difference to the rest of the house.

Alternative heating methods

Of course, for those of us who really feel the cold, a blanket or extra layer may not cut it. In this case, it’s worth looking to alternative heating methods which can be as efficient as the real thing. For one, you should stock up on hot water bottles. These genius inventions can heat better than most modern devices. Slip one of these under your blanket and you’ll soon be toastier than your breakfast in the morning.

Equally, options such as electric blankets can be a good idea. Many people avoid these for fear of safety. But, most modern options have various safety features in place. The trick is, also, to switch this on while you read in bed, or get undressed, and switch it off again before you go to sleep.
