People like and follow accounts on Instagram for different reasons. Some people follow because they are interested in the account's content, while others might follow to gain access to exclusive content or to receive updates from the account holder. Perhaps to receive a discount or have the chance of winning a competition where there is a giveaway in prospect. Still, others might simply like the individual who runs the account or find their posts amusing. Whatever the reason, likes and follows are an important part of the Instagram experience. More so, if you are a business because there is a financial impact to not having any.

Exploring Instagram in Terms of Likes and Follows
Likes and Follows, as with everything, are better gained naturally, but as many businesses are finding, this is not always possible to achieve. This is where companies such as Buzzoid come into their own. They will be able to offer a business the likes and follows that they have been unable to accumulate despite best efforts with posting high-quality content of interest.
Let’s explore further this idea of likes and follows to understand more about it, whether a business or private individual who wants to engage more with their Instagram account and followers.
Likes and Follows According to Interests or Hobbies
People usually like and follow accounts that post content that is in line with their interests or pastimes. For example, someone who likes fashion might follow a fashion blogger or an account that posts about the latest trends. Someone who likes cooking might follow a chef or a food blog. And someone who likes to travel might follow an account that posts beautiful photos from around the world.
Relevance
This reason for liking and following Instagram is the reason why businesses need to post content that is relevant to their target audience. Following on from the above, if you are a fashion brand, you should post content that appeals to people who are interested in fashion. And if you are a travel company, you should post content that will appeal to people who like to travel. Knowing your audience in terms of their demographic is all-important.
The More the Better
Some people simply like to follow a lot of accounts on Instagram. They might find that they get a better experience if they follow more accounts, or they might just enjoy scrolling through their feed and seeing posts from a variety of different people and businesses. Whatever the reason, these users are more likely to like and follow a wider range of accounts than the average person.
Exclusivity Matters
Some people only want to follow and like accounts that offer them exclusive content. This might be content that is not available anywhere else, or it might just be content that is behind a paywall. Either way, these users are only interested in following and liking accounts that offer them something that they can't get anywhere else.
It's All About the Person
Finally, some people simply follow and like accounts because they like the person who is running the account. This might be because they find the person to be interesting or entertaining, or it might be because they have a personal connection to the person. Either way, these users are more likely to follow and like accounts that are run by people they know and like.
In terms of a business, they may well have used the company previously and so decide to connect with it via a social media account too. It is important to direct loyal customers to your social media account as well as use it to attract new ones. Growing a business is not about replacing customers but having them from all directions.
No matter what the reason is for someone to like or follow an Instagram account, businesses need to understand why people do it. This understanding can help businesses create better content and target their audience more effectively.
