Woman with cleaning spray and mop ready to clean Forgotten Cleaning Tasks To Tackle In 2018

A good spring clean is a great way to start off the new year and to get your home looking fresh and ready. While some cleaning tasks will always be at the top of your to-do list, could there be others that you’ve forgotten about?

To help keep your home in good condition, give some thought to these forgotten cleaning tasks that you need to tackle in 2018.

The Refrigerator

While you might clean the inside of your refrigerator regularly, the outside also needs a lot of work to ensure your kitchen stays clean. It’s a chore to clean behind it, but as it can be a hotbed for bacteria (as well as pesky roaches), it’s important that you give it a thorough clean now and then.

The Sink

Sinks are another part of your home that can look clean on the surface but could really be hiding a lot of bacteria, while also being clogged thanks to food and hair left to build up over time. There are some great tips to help you clean your sink like using baking soda and other household items to help keep them germ-free.

The Dryer

Your dryer will get a lot of use throughout the year, especially during the winter time. January is a good time to think about cleaning your dryer and make sure that it’s free of dust and debris which could affect allergies. You might need a professional service to conduct dryer duct cleaning, but it’s a price worth paying to prolong the life of your machine. Going forward, make sure all pockets are emptied before you wash and dry clothes and inspect your duct regularly for anything that could be causing it to block up.

The Houseplants

Yes, believe or not – your houseplants need cleaning too! Houseplants are great for keeping the air in your room fresh, but they can also spread about mold and dust if they’re left sitting in it. There are some tried and tested methods for cleaning your houseplants that won’t leave them damaged afterwards. Whenever you’re cleaning the surfaces, remember to give them some attention too so that they can continue to thrive in your home.

Doorknobs and Switches

Take a close look at your doorknobs and light switches – are they looking as clean as they should be? We use these items with our hands a lot, so it’s easy for them to start looking a bit dirty after a while. Use some antibacterial cleaner to give them a good scrubbing as part of your regular clean – you’ll help stop the spread of germs while keeping them looking attractive to visitors.

It’s easy to forget about some cleaning jobs, but writing them in a planner can help you to remember them as the weeks go by. Want to get the new year off to a good start? Take a look at some top tips on how to freshen a room and give your newly cleaned home a brand new look.

My family is coming to my house for Thanksgiving. It does seem like a good idea for me to do what you suggested and clean thinks like the doorknobs and light switches. I don’t have a lot of time to clean my home. Perhaps I should get a professional to clean my whole home.

Great tips. There’s probably hundreds of ways to save some money. My opinion would be on regular maintenance to know some parts that needs to be replaced.
