Home-based business has gone “boom” in recent years. In fact, more people than ever are shirking the monotony of the 9-5. But, when you start out considering how you could make this work, most avenues will point towards online careers. That makes sense given that the net is largely to thank for this increase in home-based work. But, if you’re leaving an office job, the idea of sitting in front of a computer may not appeal. You’ll be able to work from home, but the job will be much the same. It’s hardly the breath of fresh air you were hoping for.

In truth, though, a home office isn’t the only option here. By considering old-school options, you could actually find a home business which takes you out, instead of leaving you in an office. Admittedly, you’ll need some land to make this work. An outdoors home-business isn’t quite as compact as an office one. But, if you’ve got that covered, read on to find out about your options.
From The Office To The Field: An Old-School Route To A Home Business
Fall for farming
Most obviously, those with land could embark on farming. And, no, this doesn’t have to mean meat. Dairy farming is an equally lucrative option. Or, you could cater for the vegan market by becoming one of the emerging ‘crop only’ farms. Either way, these options bring you back to your routes and ensure you, quite literally, live off your land. Bear in mind that, if you are considering this, there will be a lot of work and long hours. As such, it may not be the best option for work-life balance. Unless, of course, you head to companies like Hansen Agri-placement and employ someone else. Though, it may be quite some time until you are in a position to do this. So, be sure you’re willing to put the work in before you spend any money.
Plants in the nursery
If you have a gift for green fingers, you could start a plant nursery. All you’d need to do is stock up on supplies, get growing, and make sure people knew where you are. It’s possible to find real success with this, especially in specific areas. Though it’s crucial you don’t make the mistake of thinking this is an easy route. Growing plants takes time, and you’re going to need a constant supply on hand if you want to see success.
Start a stable
Horse stables are always successful. And yet, they’re surprisingly difficult to come by. If you have a decent amount of money behind you, why not embark on this project? By offering group sessions paid by the hour, you could fast see a lot of money back. Even starting out with three or four horses could soon bring you a profit. Bear in mind that it’s crucial you take every possible health and safety measure necessary to keep your reputation clean. One bad accident could finish you before you start. But, take care of that, and you’ll soon be galloping into a home business sunset.
