When was the last time you actually felt relaxed? If it’s been a while – and perhaps you can’t actually remember when you weren’t stressed about something – then you need to do something to rectify that issue. Being too stressed for too long can cause all kinds of health issues, from depression to heart disease and much more besides. It’s crucial that we all relax more, but that can seem impossible when there is so much else to do. With that in mind, here are some useful tips on how to be more relaxed in life.

Be Conscious Of It
A lot of the time, we just don’t realize how stressed we are or how much we’re missing out on relaxation. This can mean that we just keep plowing on with our work or whatever else it is that is potentially causing us harm (and at the very least being a problem for our wellbeing) and not doing anything about it.
This is why you need to stop and take note of how you are feeling throughout the day. Only when you do this will you understand how much your stress is affecting you, and eventually, this will become a good habit that you easily fall into. As soon as you realize you are getting stressed, you can put de-stressing methods in place to help you feel better.
Get Active
Exercise is obviously important for your physical health, but it’s actually also a great way to relax as well. That might seem like a strange thing to say because working out isn’t something you can do when your body is relaxed – you need to use your muscles, for example – but the truth is that when you’re working out in a gym like Fitness 19, you can forget about your troubles and focus solely on what you’re doing. This is a great way to be completely present in the moment and not thinking about the past or the future, and it’s great for de-stressing.
Plus, the hormones like serotonin that are produced when you work out will also de-stress you by reducing the amount of cortisol in your bloodstream. Since cortisol is known as the ‘stress hormone’, the benefits of heading to the gym are clear.
Give Yourself Ten Minutes
One of the reasons why we don’t relax enough is that we don’t think we have the time to do it. We’re so busy that even the thought of taking some time out seems wrong, so we ignore this pressing need and get even more stressed as a result.
However, do you have just ten minutes each day that you could use to relax in? Because ten minutes is all it takes to help lower your blood pressure, loosen your muscles, and start to think more clearly.
What could you do in ten minutes? You could listen to some music, take a relaxing shower, work out as we mentioned above, pray, cook something from scratch, read a book, listen to a podcast, color in a picture, do some gardening, or anything else that comes to mind that is going to relax you. You’re sure to be able to find ten minutes each day to enjoy some time to yourself, so make sure you do it – schedule it in if necessary.
