Even if you have been with Young Living for several years, deep linking can be a little confusing. I myself don't know how to do it on a Mac computer, but I can tell you how I do it on my HP laptop computer. This post is geared toward Brand Partners sharing the link to a person new to Young Living.
Note: I am a Brand Representative for Young Living and some links in this post are affiliate links. In the event that you click on a link and make a purchase, I receive a paid commission.
SHAREYL Code Rules
Let's start with the basics. Sometimes the code will not work due to these conditions not being met. It will work if…
- It is the customer's first order EVER with Young Living AND
- They must purchase at least 50 PV to qualify
Signing Up A New Brand Partner
When signing up a new Brand Partner, do not make this mistake! I learned the hard way so you don't have to. Do NOT have them buy the Brand Partner kit and their first purchase separately, or the SHAREYL code will not work. The system thinks the first purchase was the Brand Partner kit and will not let them have the discount.
If this does happen to you, do not use the chat on the screen, they cannot help you. Computers are so insensitive! Call on the phone in to Young Living, even if you have to wait 15 minutes to get a human, it is worth it. Plead your case with them and they may manually enter the second order with the 10% for you.
What is Deep Linking?
Deep linking, or adding a deep link, is when you make a link contain your brand partner number (so you get paid commission) PLUS it writes in the SHAREYL code in case the customer might forget to type that in to the code box. ALSO, it directs them to the product you want them to see, so that it opens on that very page.
Here is a sample of what that looks like. If you have already made a purchase, the computer thinks it is smart and will not show the SHAREYL in the discount code box. Click on my deep link to Green Omega 3 to see what it looks like… https://www.youngliving.com/us/en/product/green-omega-3-algae-based-supplement?enrollerId=19539051&sponsorId=19539051
How To Deep Link The SHAREYL code to a specific product
Let's say you are showing someone your YL product, Green Omega 3 and they don't want to be a brand partner, but they want to buy it right now because they are so excited about it. Here is what you do.
Step 1
Sign in to your account and find a product you want to share. Highlight and copy (CTRL C) the URL at the top of the page as shown in the example above.
Step 2
After copying the URL, hover your cursor over “MY ACCOUNT,” then click on “ShareYL.”
Step 3
When you are on the ShareYL screen, scroll down to the deep link generator box. Click into the LINK URL box with your cursor. Paste the link URL (CTRL V) into the box. Now click the black box that says, “GENERATE LINK.”
Step 4
You can see that under the button you just clicked, a long code showed up. You can now click the “COPY LINK” button and it will be copied and ready for you to paste.
Step 5
Share the link with your customer by pasting it where you want it. That's all there is too it! You have successfully deep linked! Yay!
Attach It To A Photo
Now that you have that big long link, let's attach it to a photo. Sometimes, you can add a link to a photo. In this blog post, I have linked my step by step photos to the omega 3 deep link as an example.
To do that, usually, you can just click on the photo and you may see a little symbol come up that looks like a chain link. Click that and see if it will let you enter the URL, then save it and try it out to see.
Attach It Under A Group Of Words
Another cool thing about deep linking is that you can hide it under words. Let's say you are writing an email to a client. Instead of showing them the big, scary, long link like this… https://www.youngliving.com/us/en/product/green-omega-3-algae-based-supplement?enrollerId=19539051&sponsorId=19539051, wouldn't it look nicer like this?
…”when we were at play group the other day and I mentioned that I used the green omega 3 and you said you wanted to try it? You can click HERE to place your order when you are ready.”…
Just type out what you want to say first, then highlight it and click the link button that looks like a chain link, then paste your URL there and save it if your system does not automatically save. I like to bold the link so it stands out as well.
