How to Give Your Home the Wow Factor

Your primary aim will be to have a home that’s comfortable and enjoyable, but who are we kidding? We also want it to be impressive.

It’s not about showing off our homes to other people; having an impressive home is for us. If you know that you’re going to be living at your property for a long period and you’ll raise your family there and so on, then you’ll want a home that stands out from the crowd for all the right reasons, whether its part of your luxury island living dream or a more modest abode. In this blog, we’re going to take a look at some tried and tested ways to give your home the wow factor.

The Exterior

It all begins with the outside. This helps to set the tone for the rest of your property. While you can work hard to ensure the interior is magnificent, the effect will be all the more potent if the front of the home has been well put together. There are some additions that can really make the front pop. For example, you may add a front gate that separates your home from the streets; it’ll provide your home with an air of exclusivity. Also, look at adding plenty of plants and trees, and upgrade your front door — it’ll make a big difference.

Statement Infrastructure

Now let’s focus on the interior of your property, which is where the biggest impact will be felt. While there are subtle ways to give your home on the wow factor (more on them later), it’s important that you have a couple of statement pieces that catch the eye as soon as you walk through the door. Two good areas to focus on are custom staircases and the lighting. A company like Designed Stairs can give your home a luxury spiral staircase that’ll really make your home stand out, while a single, large chandelier in the entrance way will set the tone. Both your stairs and lighting are primarily functional, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be magnificent.

Art and Decorations

You won’t just want your home to have the wow factor in the entrance hallway; you’ll want it to be present throughout the property. An underrated way to improve the home is to look at adding works of art and other decorations to the walls. In your living room, a unique work of art will work much better as a focal point for the room than, say, a television. If you’re going to take the artistic approach, be sure to buy unique, high-quality works of art — it won’t work if they’re just pieces that you can find in any big box store.

Go the Extra Mile

Finally, look at going the extra mile in certain areas. Could you add a home cinema, for example? Or what about a jacuzzi in the yard? These touches are a step above what most people do with their home. It’s all about seeing the possibilities and then taking action. You’ve got a lot of space to play with, so ask yourself: what’s the best I can do here?
