Young Dad and Mom reading story to a toddler in bed at night How To Smarten Up Your Home Life With Systems

As much as technology can seem quite scary, especially when you think about just how advanced it can be, it’s hard not to admit that it’s really improved our lives. We can speak to loved ones instantly – no matter where they are in the world, we can work remotely, and we can even order things at midnight and have them delivered to our door. Tech is pretty great. But it can also really improve your lifestyle too. Not only can you have a smart home, but you can work with the philosophy behind this to put some smarter systems in place too. Because a smart home is only ever as good as the gadgets in it, but when you work on systems to match, life will run more smoothly too.

Cleaning Schedules

Up first is the idea of having a cleaning schedule in place. You may find that you tend to clean the same things in the same way. But do you have an order of doing them, or set days? It’s common to have ‘a cleaning day’ where you do a big clean, and other little jobs, like wiping down the sides or vacuuming, in between. However, this may mean that you’re overworking yourself. When you have a cleaning schedules that has different chores on different days, you can make sure that you’re being efficient.

School Stuff Organizers

When you’re a mom, it’s safe to say that your kid’s stuff can drive you crazy. It gets everywhere, yet when you really want to find something, it’s nowhere to be found. This can particularly be the case when it comes to stuff for school: whether it's public, private or homeschool. So, you need a system for this too. With school bag storage, you can make sure all of their school-related stuff they are currently using stays organized.

Wall Planner

One of the best family inventions ever isn’t even to do with technology, but good old-fashioned paper instead. Because a wall planner is so efficient at helping you keep everyone’s lives as streamlined as possible. You can put in family dentist appointments, play dates, camps, meets, family visits, and even dates you need to change the water filter! That way, you’re never going to forget anything important again.

Pantry Organization

Then, it’s onto your pantry. Because a system really comes alive when it comes to your food storage. When you have everything in its place, organized by expiry dates, or even by usage, you’re always going to be able to find the ingredients that you need, and know when you need to replace anything that’s running low. And this is like music to every mom’s ears.

Evening Routines

Finally, you’re also going to find that some good old-fashioned evening routines will be great for you too. Because it’s easy to forget things when you’re disorganized. However, when you have a routine for both you and your kids, you should find that each night runs like clockwork, and that you’re all well-rested ready for the next day ahead.
