Since I recently turned 50 years old, I decided to call myself “thrifty and 50.” One way that I can be “thrifty” and save money for my large family is by bulk purchasing food items on sale and storing them for later use in the month. In order to do that, it's best to use a vacuum sealer. So I was happy to do a product review on the INKBIRD PLUS Vacuum Sealer.
Disclosure: I received a product and was compensated for my time writing this article. All opinions are my own.
Appearance
The exterior of the product is stainless steel and black with white lettering and one blue button. The interior is black. There is also a safety sticker placed inside that is blue and white. Rolls of bags can be stored inside the unit.
When I get a new appliance, I like it to look good in my home, even if it will sit on a shelf in an out of the way place. My refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, blender, toaster, pressure pot, slow cooker, electric can opener and blender are all stainless steel.
I was very pleased to see that this would match well in my home with its sleek stainless steel look.

Compact Design for Better Use and Space Saving
When I received my INKBIRD PLUS Vacuum Sealer, I really enjoyed the convenient size for storing and was thinking of a shelf I could put it on when not in use. It is only 14.7 inches long by 6.1 inches deep by 3.15 inches high so it really saves space compared to others. I did notice in the manual that you should keep the upper lid of the appliance unlocked when not in use.
Easy To Clean
Before use, I cleaned my unit by wiping the outer surface with a soft, damp cloth and a little dish soap. In the inside, I just wiped it with a paper towel. The unit needs to be well dried before operating.
10-In-One Kit for All-Purpose Vacuum Sealing
The ten features in this one INKBIRD PLUS Vacuum Sealer kit are:
- Seal only
- Vacuum moist food
- Vacuum dry food
- Vac & Seal
- Vacuum with a canister
- Built in bag cutter
- Roll Storage
- Pulse Vacuum
- Supports custom bag sizes for more practical use
- 7 operation modes for preserving meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, nuts, bread, jars, etc.
Built In Cutter
The built in cutter is very handy and easy to use. I just figured out how long I wanted the bag to be.
Then, I slid the cutter over the bag and it was separated from the roll.
Sealing One End Of The Bag
My bag now had two cut ends, so I placed one end into the sealing section.
I shut the lid tight by pressing down on both sides until I heard both safety locks click into place. Then, I pressed the “Seal Only” button.
Using The Vacuum Sealer
With my steaks placed in my newly formed bag, I placed the open end into the vacuum sealer's suction chamber and pressed the “Vac & Seal” button.
I was expecting it to be loud as all appliances typically are. But it actually works at a <65 decibel working noise so it is not disturbing. It has an 85KPA strong suction, but you don't realize how powerful that is until you see it in action!
The vacuum time only takes about 3 to 5 seconds at dry mode or 12 to 15 seconds at moist mode. It's super speedy!
As I moved on to the next item, I could see how helpful this appliance was going to be to me in my food storage. One of the key features is that it is powerful and safer to keep food fresh longer with its ability to vacuum 200 times continuously in dry mode and 50 times in moist mode. Though, you don't need to worry about wearing it out because it has a built in overheating protection system. It also has ETL certification, so it is very safe.
Releasing The Bag
To release the newly sealed bag, I just pressed the safety locks on both sides to open the lid and removed it from the unit.
More Foods You Can Vacuum Seal
For this review, I decided to seal steaks and chicken. But, I want you to know that you can seal other food products. Here are some examples of what can be sealed…
- nuts
- legumes
- hard cheese
- blanched vegetables, (except mushrooms, onions and garlic)
- flour, sugar, salt, and powdery foods as long as they are in the original package placed inside the sealer bag to prevent powder from getting into the machine
- pre-frozen liquids such as soup stock
- fruit, frozen first is best
- meat, frozen first is best
- candy
- chips
- crackers
- cereal
- herbs, spices (if powdery, place original package in the sealer bag – this will extend it's life for longer term storage)
Fast, Quiet, Reliable, and Good Looking
In my opinion, this product is all it claims to be and more! It is fast, quiet and reliable, good looking as it matches the appliances in my kitchen, as well as very “suction-ey”! I can't wait to get some great deals at the store and use the INKBIRD PLUS Vacuum Sealer again and again! I highly recommend you give it a try in your home.
