I was so thrilled to do a product review for an art related company! I just love art, it is so fun and therapeutic to me. My family received a set of Magic Stix Washable Markers from The Pencil Grip, Inc. We tried them on different types of paper and tested their “won't dry out for 7 days guarantee”. Read my product review to find out what happened.

Product Review of Magic Stix Washable Markers
The markers were shipped right to my home. I myself sell items online on eBay and Etsy, so I am picky about how quickly items are shipped and how well packaged they are. I was impressed to see that the product came very quickly. It was also packaged very well for the shipment so everything looked in pristine condition. I would feel very good about ordering this as a gift to someone as I know it would arrive on time and in new condition.
About
Magic Stix Washable Markers are standard quality markers, meaning NOT professional artist grade quality – these non toxic markers can be used by anyone ages 3 and up at any art level. They are guaranteed not to dry out for 7 days, with the vented safety cap off, which we show you our test results of how that worked out below. These markers are not scented, come in 24 bright bold colors and are washable.
What I made:
I decided to use the markers on standard printer paper, since that is usually what I give my homeschool children when they do art class. I was very curious to see if it would bleed through to the next page (or my table) and if it did bleed through to my table, would it really wash off?
I wanted to use a variety of colors for testing purposes, so I decided to make a rainbow picture. I also wanted to test writing with the black marker to see how that would go. This is what I drew and markered.
This is what went through to the next page. I am actually surprised that the black didn't bleed through because that is what I expected to happen.
Since some of it did bleed through, for my next test, I scribbled onto the printer paper with no paper under it so it would bleed onto my table. I let it dry, then took a wet cloth with only water to wipe it and some of it came off. I next took a wet rag with some dish soap rubbed into the rag to wipe it and it all came off. When you use these markers, remember to use a little soap with your water.
Testing the “won't dry out” guarantee
I put my daughter, Mercedes, in charge of this task. She chose to write her dog's name, Flare, for this task. We decided to test it for eight days, thinking, “Yeah, it may last for seven days, but what about the eighth?” Each day, she waited until the afternoon, which was when we received our package and tested the first day so we had a full 24 hour cycle each day. Then she would write the name, Flare.
We were amazed with the results, they truly did not dry out and really seem just as good as the first day, to me. Oh, these markers are perfect for my household with my forgetful and distracted 5 and 7 year olds who often leave lids off! And a Mom who doesn't do “clean up time” until right before Daddy gets home (some days not until after supper, some days not until littles are in bed, and Mommy or Daddy does the clean up, etc.)
What Mercedes made:
Mercedes is a thorough product reviewer and she tried the markers in a child's coloring book to see how that would go. She found that it did bleed onto the next page quite a bit more than the printer paper example and that it made the colored area wrinkly when it was damp. She did feel that the colors did not bleed or blend into each other too much, which is nice for a coloring book.
Mercedes made a dragon picture inspired by a How To Train Your Dragon “Flight Mare”. She did this is a sketch book that has a thicker, higher quality paper than the printer paper that I used. She did say, you need to be careful when using the markers not to apply “too much pressure” or the paper will rip. She did notice that with other markers, there will be a bad smell and with these, it is not a bad smell and you don't really notice it. Sometimes, she likes to layer or blend with her marker's output and she doesn't feel that these do that very well, but they are great for someone who wants to keep the colors separate. Mercedes liked that they have a finer or somewhat smaller tip that other standard markers to help draw in finer detail. She feels they are great for little kids who leave the tops off.
My Opinion
I am very pleased with the fast shipping and good packing and the great condition of the product upon arrival. It is also a joy to have markers that will last, even with the tops off for long periods of time. My only regret is that I did not find my favorite shade of teal in this bunch, but I am often NOT the one that is using the markers around here, so that's okay. I very much enjoy that they will wash off my kids and table with some soap and water. I absolutely adore the carrying case! I love organization and keeping things together and this case makes it so much easier to do that! I think these would make a great gift. They measure approximately 12 x 9 inches so it is a large gift item for a child, teen or adult. I would recommend adding a sketch book with the higher quality paper to go with it, so your loved one can use the Magic Stix Washable Markers right away!
