Your home might have a few red light issues that will stop buyers from coming anywhere near your property. Big And Small Repairs
Every repair around your home should be completed before your property goes up on the market. Why is this? Well, when you sell a home you are selling a dream and a dream can’t be a property that needs to be fixed up. If you leave the property with repairs needed, you’ll be selling a fixer-upper. While buyers will still be interested they probably won’t be willing to pay the price that you had in mind.
As such, if you’re looking to move to a bigger place or retire comfortable when you sell, it’s worth doing little and big repairs around your home beforehand. Be particularly careful of repairs at the front of the property because these are the first thing a buyer will notice. For instance, a garage door repair will probably only cost a couple hundred and avoid you losing a few thousand on the asking value of your home.
Insects Everywhere
An insect infestation is a nasty issue to have and it’s one that will quickly turn away potential buyers from looking at your property. They certainly won’t be making any offers if you have this issue. You might think a home-buyer won’t notice a few insects, but you’d be surprised. If they don’t notice, it will almost always show up on the survey and home-buyers can and will still pull out at this point. Or, they might force you to fix the issue before you sell. So, you might as well fix it now.
There are various exterminators that you can hire who will completely clean out your house and remove all the insects. It’s worth getting an expert because leaving just a couple will cause the problem to return.
Pet Wear And Tear
Lots of homebuyers love pets but that doesn’t mean they won’t be put off if you have a property where the animals have been allowed to run wild. If you have let your pets wreck your home, there’s a good chance that the signs will be there. Claw marks on the floor or teeth marks on the wall are all signs that need to be covered up. You might even want to send your pet somewhere else while you are showing the home off.
Want one extra tip? Don’t leave your home a mess. Experts believe this can shave twenty-five percent off an offer from a buyer.
