You may never have considered renovating the spare bedroom before, but one of the best things that you can do with a spare bedroom is set up your own home office. Many people love the idea of working from home, but they don’t have the space dedicated to be able to do it in a way that’s separate from the rest of the family. Work/life balance is so important, and if you’re working from home it’s all the more important not to let those two things bash together. An office could be the solution that you never knew that you needed.

Here’s the thing: working from home may never have been in your future. Some people end up working from home because they’ve negotiated a contract with work that allows them the flexibility. Others have no choice, and end up working from home as the result of the pandemic, an injury or accident, preventing them from using the office that they used to work in. In the case of an injury, you could get advice from an award winning injury lawyer, and consider how working from home will work for you or if your home will need handicap adjustments. Whatever the case may be, after trying it, many prefer to work from home rather than in an office. Here are six reasons why.
Total Control. When you work away from the office, there is an element of trust with your employer. They know that you won’t be working the standard 9-5, but as long as your tasks for the day are done, that doesn’t matter. You get total control over your schedule when you work from home, which isn’t something you get in an external office.
More Time. Working from home gives you the freedom to attend sports, or the school play, or the dentist. The flexibility in your schedule and the lack of being micromanaged means that you are able to balance life with your family far better than before.
No Commute. The mornings are always a huge rush, but when you work from home you can cut that commute down to about thirty seconds. It’s a blessing, really.
Income Control. When you work from a home office, you can choose to start your hobby as a side business before and after your work hours, when you previously would have been driving to and from work, which gives you more income to work with.
No Boss. Well, you may still have a boss, but they won’t be walking behind your computer and keeping an eye on what you do during the day.
Job Satisfaction. You can feel so much more relaxed and happier about the job you are doing if you’re doing it on your own turf and in your own time. There’s a much greater happiness about being able to do something you love while you feel freedom at the same time.
If it’s an option, working from home could be your new normal. Make it happen and watch your life change.
