Now is the perfect time to give your home a maintenance check and here’s how to do exactly that:

Check Out the Roof

Winter weather can play havoc with the roof, so get out your ladder and see what’s going on up there. If there are loose tiles, holes or signs of damage, find a good roofer at EpicHomeIdeas to sort out the problem. Do this immediately if you don’t want your home to spring a leak this Spring.

Check for Critters

When it’s cold outside, it can drive pests inside, Not only that, but the wood in your home can become damper than it should be, providing the perfect home for all manner of little critters such as woodworm and beetles, which could ruin your home. So, go round your home checking for holes that could be made by small pests and any signs of rats and mice, such as droppings, and then call in the exterminators. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be to get rid of the things.

Take a Look at the Gutters and Spouts

This is particularly important if you live in an area which gets a lot of wind and rainfall in the winter because they can cause a buildup of leaves and other debris, including water, which could weaken the structure of your home. If you find any problems that can’t be solved simply by cleaning the gutters out yourself, find a good plumber at GetPlumbingQuotes. Again, this is something that needs to be sorted out as soon as possible.

Paint the Place

The winter can also cause the exterior of your home to take a real battering in the cosmetic department. It’s not unusual for paint to peel, bubble or become dirty when it is being battered by wind and rain, and dirty debris is hitting the walls. So, go outside, check out the status of your walls. If you can see any exposed areas that aren’t being protected by paint anymore or f you find any holes or missing brickwork, call in a plasterer first. They will skim the walls so that they’re perfect when you come to paint them.  Then get a quality exterior paint and set to work putting on a fresh coat of paint.

See if Your Seals are Intact

The winter weather can also do a number on the caulking of your doors and windows. So, when you have some time to spare this spring, go around your home looking for cracks and feeling for drafts. If you notice any, you’ll need to sand off the old caulking and apply some more to ensure your home is as cozy and efficient as it can be.

Now that you’ve completed these essential property maintenance tasks, you can get to spring cleaning the inside of your home… have fun!
