People often ask how the top users on sites like Instagram are able to produce such stunning pictures of their homes. There are loads of accounts on social media platforms like this, and some of them look as if they live in paradise. Of course, though, if someone else can achieve an Instagram worthy look in their home, you can do the same. To help you out with this, this post will be exploring some of the key elements which can go into creating your perfect home for social media. There are big tricks and little tricks which go into this, and the best influencers will try their best to use them all.

Color Palettes

Color is crucial on a site like Instagram. When you visit the pages of the top influencers found on sites like this, you will almost always find that they follow rigid color palettes across all of their photographs. Some people go for light and airy images, with lots of white and a few bright colors. Other people will go completely the other way, though, choosing to embrace darker background colors and more vivid accents. It’s worth picking this carefully, as you will need to keep your colors consistent across the images you post, and your whole home will be touched by it once you’re done.

Smart Storage

When you look around at images on sites like Instagram, you will quickly notice how little clutter people have in their homes. This isn’t because they don’t own anything, though; it’s because they’ve used smart storage solutions to hide their daily items from view. There are loads of different ways to approach something like this, and furniture which is disguised as something else can be a good option for those who are new to interior design. Chairs, sofas, and beds often have hidden storage, and this can help you to create a space that looks like it was made for Instagram.

Accent Pieces

Once you’ve hidden all of your normal possessions away, it will be time to start thinking about the accent pieces you use to make the place look lived-in. Etsy can be a great place for this, with loads of handmade ornaments that other people won’t be able to get their hands on. Current styles take a variety of different forms, but shabby chic is still very popular, and this is an extremely cost-effective sort of theme to go for. Your accent pieces should meld into the background without taking people’s attention, making them feel as though they were made to be in their place.

Light & Photography Areas

Light is one of the most crucial elements that go into modern photography. Most homes have limited spaces that have enough natural light to take good photos, and this is something you should think about as you plan your space. By choosing spaces that are very well-lit for your photography, you can increase the quality of your snaps by a huge margin, while also making it easier to edit them later on. A lot of people ignore this when they are setting up their Instagrammable home, though it isn’t too hard to take advantage of light, and this should be something you focus on.

Design Support

Designing a home by yourself can be a challenging task, even if you enjoy interior design. Many people struggle with this sort of work, and this can be hard to overcome when you don’t have the time for it. Many design companies will offer a free design consultation when you first start working with them. This can be used to explain your needs, while also getting an idea of what the company can do for you. Even if you decide not to use a business, it’s well worth going through this process, and it could save you a lot of time down the line. Of course, though, you need to make sure that the designers you choose have the experience to create the look you want.

Behind The Scenes

There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes in an influencer’s home. To start, most of the images you will see have had some editing done to them. Free apps, like Adobe Lightroom, can be all you need for this, providing you with the tools to make sure that all of your images have the same colour profile, along with making it possible to fix any mistakes which were made as the pictures were taken. Alongside this, you will also have the opportunity to move things around, hide any clutter, and fix anything else before you take your photos.

Cleaning will always be a big part of this. People don’t want to see dirty places on their Instagram feed, and this means that you’re going to have to get good at cleaning your place regularly. This can be as simple as making a routine that you go through before you take your photos, or you could think about hiring someone to come and do it for you. There are loads of cleaning companies out there, and this can take away the stress of having to stay on top of your daily chores.

The Right Camera

It’s becoming more and more common for people to use their smartphones as their main camera for Instagram. While this is convenient, phones have still got a long way to go until they can match the photo-taking power of a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Being able to swap lenses will give you loads of freedom with your photography, and the RAW file formats which modern cameras use offer loads of room for editing and improvement. Of course, though, this can be expensive and maybe something you have to work towards as your account grows.

More and more people are looking for ways to break into Instagram, nowadays. While this approach to work is becoming more common, though, there is still plenty of room for those who are producing quality content. If your content revolves around your home, it makes sense to put the work in to make sure that it looks as good as possible.
