It may be hard to believe, but I have been homeschooling my kids for over 20 years. I have eight kids, my oldest is now 26 and my youngest is 6. It's fun for me as a homeschool teacher to find something new to use in my teaching once in a while, so I was excited to do a review of 15Worksheets.com from a homeschool teacher's perspective.
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. I was given a free product and compensated for my time writing this article. All opinions are my own.
What Is 15Worksheets?
The backstory about this website is that a group of retired teachers were getting together on a weekly basis for coffee. At one point, they decided to create at least fifteen supplemental worksheets on every topic they could imagine. They created a website to offer the worksheets and answers (if needed) to the public for free, being solely funded with ads on the site.
I own a website, so I know what it costs to run a website, it's not cheap. If they get any additional money from ads, after the bills are paid – they use the money to pay for coffee at their weekly meetings. That sounds really fun and is a great way to keep all of their brains sharp in retirement. These are some very smart people, in my opinion. I do think it would be a good idea for them to have a “buy me a coffee” or “donate” button to help fund their cause.
Currently, I do worry for 15Worksheets about the lack of legal pages on the site, but if they have their settings so it cannot be viewed in other countries outside the United States or in California, with their laws, and they thoroughly describe every visual so that digital readers can read it to the visually impaired, maybe they will be okay.
Main Subjects Are Easy To Navigate
I noticed that the main subjects have headings across the top of website on a desktop or are available through hitting the “three bars” to get to the menu on mobile. That's very good to help you find what you need. I love that Math and Reading are first as my homeschool teaching friends and I always seem to be looking for additional ideas with our kids when we feel they need extra help in understanding a topic.
Easy To Use Search Box
I am a homeschool teacher in Wisconsin USA and our state requires Health and Geography classes. I feel like I am always trying to find additional resources for these topics. I didn't see a tab for “Health” so I typed that word in the search box and found lots of pages on the topic. With Geography, I typed in “geography” and found lots of pages as well. I also found a few resources for our state of Wisconsin.
Searchable by Grade Level
In the search box, I typed in Grade 1 and lots of worksheets from various topics came up, so I do like that if I want something according to grade level, that I can find it easily. Usually, though, I prefer to teach both my Elementary School age kids at once in most topics – to save time. But I do like to have them in their own levels for Math and Language Arts. This website allows me to have both.
There are tabs for both Preschool and Kindergarten, so for those grade levels, a homeschool teacher could easily click that tab to get what they need.
Are Not Currently Made Using Artificial Help
I am a very creative person and have lots of digital and physical products for sale in my Etsy shop, and I hand create all of my own items. I checked with a person from this company and confirmed that these items were handmade by these teachers without using the artificial you-know-what. This makes me very happy to use their worksheets. The you-know-what has already stolen information from several of my blog posts and doesn't give me credit for my original ideas in computer searches nowadays, so I am unforgiving of it. We only need to forgive humans, right?
Pages Print Out Fine In Black and White
To keep costs down, we use a black and white printer at home to print our homeschool pages as we need them. The pages I printed look great in black and white. Here are some examples.
A Geography Related Page That We Tried
This Town Block Hunt Reading A Map Worksheet is a really nice starter to map reading for Elementary students.
To keep it simple for myself, I printed the answer key for this worksheet as well.
Mitchell's Opinion
It's kind of hard to count blocks because you have to look at where you start and end, but I figured it out. I like the pictures on the worksheet. I would go to the game store, pet shop and donut place.
A Health Related Page That I Tried
For my first grade daughter, we are currently doing a unit study on “Healthy vs Unhealthy.” We have been to the library twice to find children's books on this topic and we have talked at snack times about making healthy choices, so this Healthy Habits Healthy Thinking worksheet is perfect for this topic!
Megan's Opinion
It was easy to do the worksheet. My favorite picture was the exercise lady.
This Homeschool Teacher's Opinion of 15Worksheets.com
Wow! I am impressed by all the hard work that was put into building this website. I love that it is so organized with the menu tabs and search button. It's better organized than my own lifestyle blog with my wide variety of topics.
I also love that there are so many worksheets to choose from. Literally thousands! The visuals are fun and the questions are easy to understand. I highly recommend that you check out 15Worksheets.com for your homeschool.
