college student hands typing on a laptop Why You Don’t Need School to Be Successful

Far too many people are stuck with the traditional mentality that you need a college degree in order to be a successful person in life. Yet, despite this idea that is, frankly incredibly outdated, many people ignore the fact that there are plenty of university graduates that are struggling to find a job or direction in life.

In fact, many people are sinking in student debt because they just can’t find the right footing to get started with their own careers.

As depressing as this might sound, it’s good to mention that having a degree will always give you an advantage over someone that doesn’t. However, a degree isn’t the key to success and it’s not the main focus of this topic. Instead, this article is going to show you that you can be successful even if you haven’t had formal training or a college degree.

Talent Trumps Paper Qualifications

One of the biggest hurdles that young graduates have to overcome in recent times is that many CEOs and business managers operate under a traditional mentality. They assume that experience and qualifications are what makes a good employee–and they’d generally be right. However, thanks to the internet, talent can be nurtured at home and it doesn’t require a mentor or a teacher in order to inspire it.

Because of this, there are now many talented individuals that have grown up with the convenience of the internet and they’re slowly spreading their wings and getting jobs that even qualified graduates couldn’t dream of, and it’s all because they’re able to showcase their talent. In addition, as more and more millennials start their own businesses, they’re more accepting of talented graduates that don’t necessarily have qualifications but do display a great level of understanding and skill in specific fields.

Learning Resources Have Really Taken Off

Thanks to the advances of the internet, learning no longer has to be conducted in a classroom with expensive fees attached to it. Online learning is a fantastic alternative that offers everything a traditional classroom does minus the ridiculous costs. However, online learning isn’t the only thing that has advanced in the past decade. Skills training in public and private locations is also growing thanks to the ability to market these locations and courses on the internet and pinpoint them at potential students.

There are many business skills exercises and training resources available all over the world that can teach you everything from handling criticism to using business cards. These courses are targeted towards practical skills that you can learn and they also don’t cost nearly as much as a course from a professional educational institute. In other words, a school is no longer the only place to learn. Whether it’s learning online with the help of guides and videos or visiting a private location for specialised teaching, there are many ways to pick up new skills and apply them to your career.

Some Final Notes

Although getting a degree can help in many cases, there are plenty of successful people in the world that haven’t even been to college. With this in mind, you shouldn’t be upset or frustrated because you weren’t able to finish a degree or because you dropped out of school. If you have the passion for success, you will achieve it regardless.
