Updating your living room doesn’t have to be a huge project or a headache. When you do it. Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference and turning a space from something that’s quite boring to something amazing without breaking the bank is a great idea. Here are four simple updates that make sense and are very easy to do.

A fresh wall painting

One of the easiest ways that you can transform your living room is with a fresh wall painting. Whether you’re choosing a soft neutral or a bold accent wall, new paint instantly refreshes your space. It’s amazing how a coat of colour can change the mood of a room which makes it feel cozy or bigger or even brighter and it gives your furniture a whole new backdrop. The bonus is not to be afraid to try something a little bit unexpected because you might just discover your new favourite shade.

Switch up your textiles

Throw pillows, rugs and curtains are the unsung heroes of the living room makeover changing up. Changing these textiles is like giving your room a wardrobe upgrade. You can swap out heavier darker curtains for lighter ones in the warmer months or you can even bring in a patterned rug to add texture and interest. Even small touches like a colourful throw on the sofa make the space feel fresh and inviting and it’s a super budget friendly update.

Rearrange the furniture

Sometimes the best update doesn’t cost you anything. It’s just a matter of rearranging your furniture. Try pulling the sofa away from the walls or creating a cozy conversation nook. You could reposition the chairs so that they point in a different direction to make the room feel more open. Playing with angles, symmetry and flow makes a difference in how your living room feels. Moving furniture around can also help you to notice areas that might need cleaning or little fixes giving your living room that extra touch of sparkle.

Add some greenery

While we’re discussing adding colour plants are the magic ingredient that could bring to life any living room. A few potted plants are a statement. Floor plants can make the room feel more vibrant and balanced and even a small windowsill herb garden or a hanging plant can create a fresh natural touch plus plants have that bonus of effectively improving air quality and boosting your mood. So, it’s a win-win! For an extra layer of style, try mixing different sizes or textures to make it feel effortless.

Updating your living room doesn’t have to be a complicated thing to do with a fresh wall painting and new textiles. You’ll be able to completely change the room without stress. These are the small tweaks that make your space inviting and functional and it also makes you feel good about it. You want your living room to feel like your space and this is how you add the personality you’re looking to add.
