4 Practical Ways to Add More Space to Your Home (Without a Massive Headache)

Countless people feel like their home is cramped or not as large as they’d want it to be. When you’re in this position, you’ll naturally want to add more space to your home. But, this can often involve quite a bit of stress and hassle. With the right options, however, it shouldn’t have to be.

Convert the Attic or Basement

Attic and basement conversions are some of the more common ways to create more space in a house. If you have either of these and haven’t converted them yet, they’re more than worth focusing on. They’re some of the more practical ways to add more space since there should be less overall work needed.

While it’ll still need to meet structural requirements and similar criteria once the work’s done, the bare bones are already there. It’s just a matter of figuring out what you’ll do with the extra space, with a spare bedroom being one of the more common options.

Add a Deck or Patio

If you’d prefer to focus on the outdoors with your home addition, you can always go with a deck or a patio. These let you spend more time in your garden without needing to be exposed to the elements constantly. And, they could add a lot more style to your home, enhancing its curb appeal while you’re at it.

It’s just a matter of finding the right style for your deck or patio, and there shouldn’t be anything to worry about. Add in the best glass railings you can find and a few other design elements, and you’ll be enjoying your outdoors before you know it.

Install a Sunroom

As great as a patio or a deck can be, some homeowners would prefer to be a little more protected from the elements while still enjoying the outdoors. A sunroom can be a great option for this. You’ll get all of the visuals from your garden without needing to worry about the weather.

Even spending time in your sunroom when it’s raining could end up being a lot more relaxing than you would’ve thought. Since these can often be smaller than a full-size addition, they can often be some of the more affordable options to go for.

Try a Bump Out

If you’re planning a home extension or upgrade just to add a specific room, then it could be worth considering a bump out. Also known as a room addition, these tend to be one of the more affordable options to try, since they don’t have to be nearly as large as some alternatives.

At least, that’s the case when you’re focusing on adding a bathroom or similar room. It’s just a matter of knowing exactly what you’re looking for ahead of time, and your bump out should be a great way to add more functionality to your home.

There’s no reason why these shouldn’t add more space to your home while adding more style and functionality. And, they shouldn’t have to be too hard to get done, helping you avoid a lot of stress.
