You can have Christmas at any time. It doesn't have to be when everyone else does. There are benefits to this. In a large family, it may be the only time when everyone can get together. It may be best to hold your family Christmas get-together when the weather is nice so that it can be held outside or under a park shelter. You can still have the decorations, food, family and fun, even though it is at a different time than the rest of the world. The Decorations: For a lot of people, Christmas couldn’t possibly start without the addition of some decorations throughout your home or the event building. You may wish to keep your ornaments of the less expensive and non-breakable kind if your venue is outdoors in case the wind picks up. The Presents: Along with handling the decor, having your early or late Christmas is a great time to give out some presents, too. In reality, the best part of a day like this is the people you will get the chance to see. Your event can be flexible, allowing for people who work to find a day off. Not everyone can get a day off during the later weeks of December.

The Music: Be sure to have some Christmas music softly playing in the background to help lift everyone's mood and keep the atmosphere fun and cheery. If any of your family members play a musical instrument, ask them to bring their instrument and sheet music. Provide guest with copies of the lyrics and you can sing Christmas Carols together. Who knows, maybe other patrons of the park will join you in singing!

The Fun: Each family has its own traditions when the holiday season rolls around. Whether you always play the same board games or watch the same TV shows together, it will be important to capture this sort of fun with your own event. To achieve a goal like this, you may have to do some investment, but most games are fairly cheap, and you can even get your hands on a large television set for nearly nothing.

When someone is away for Christmas, it can be hard to feel like a full family. This is a shame, though, as it simply doesn't have to be this way, as long as you’re willing to move around the date a little bit. As long as you remind everyone what and Who Christmas is really about, you have the right to celebrate whenever you want to.
