Every homeschool morning, I read to my children while they are eating breakfast and waking up. They might start coloring or playing while I am reading. I keep the “morning books” in my ottoman. Master Books has morning baskets that I thought would fit perfectly for us. Here is my review of their Faith Grower Morning Basket.

Faith Grower Morning Basket Schedule
I am a person who loves to have a list to check off so that I know everything gets done and I am not missing anything. I like to use a lesson planner, even though I am using a variety of materials by different authors or curriculum companies. Master Books has made this so easy for me! These books are from five different authors, but there is a schedule you can download on their website that tells what to do each day of the school year for 180 days. I just put a check mark in the box to the right of each day that is done.
To Get A Schedule for Your Morning Basket
Sometimes Master Books no longer carries the basket with the physical books, but still carries the schedule download. In the search box, just type “morning basket schedule” and it should pop up.
If you have a morning basket on the screen, just click on the product page you want, then scroll down to the Related Products section. Click on the words, “Morning Basket – Schedule (Download)” for the morning basket you desire. That will take you to a product page where you can add it to your cart. Then create an account and check out. No money is required for the free download.
Go to your email and confirm a subscription from them. Next, look for an email that says, “Your Master Books Order Confirmation” in the subject line, scroll down to PDF and click the word, “download.” There it is! You can download it to your device and use it from there or print it like I did.
Creation-Based Curriculum
Every book I have received from Master Books is creation-based, which makes my job of reading so much easier! The Instincts By Design science book in this pack is great. There are vivid photos and easy to understand explanations. I especially love how often they mention God's perfect design of animal bodies to do what they are designed to do.
I am a mom of eight and I have homeschooled all of my children since 2005. In the past, I have tried some companies that have all their curriculum in one company and I have never been happy doing that. I am an “eclectic” homeschool teacher, meaning that I use a variety of sources. But one thing that is always in common with whatever I choose to use is that it needs to be creation-based curriculum. My faith is very important to me. It is why I homeschool. I hold to a creation view, rather than a “big bang theory” of how the universe came together.
So, this gets frustrating as a homeschool teacher when you are reading to your kids and come across something that says the earth is “billions of years old.” With a creation-based view, I believe the earth is only thousands of years old, so every time I read that in a book, I would need to explain to my kids – yet again – that the author should have written thousands instead of billions of years old.
Picture Books Are Perfect For Small Hands
One thing I have noticed with homeschooling is that it seems like my younger children learn to read earlier and earlier. Probably because they are hearing me teach their older siblings to read. They have such small hands. Some picture books are so large and heavy. I love the size of these picture books and that they are paperback, so they are not too heavy.
You Can Get More Coloring Books
The morning basket only comes with one each of the coloring books, so if you like to follow the schedule, it would be best to get each child their own coloring book. Don't forget the teens and preschoolers! My teen and preschool daughters like to color when my elementary aged boys are. It's no problem! I can just get more coloring books from Master Books.
Apologetics
In our homeschool, we try to always incorporate some apologetics and we want our children to be able to stand up for what they believe in when questioned. I am so happy that this morning basket included a copy of Foundational Truths, which answers some questions like: “How can God be one and yet three persons?” I was recently asked this question by a woman from a foreign country where Christianity is not popular. Every question in this book is very relevant and has a strong possibility of being asked.
I know this book says that it is a Catechism and when I hear that, I often think “catholic,” but this book is actually non-denominational. Catechism actually means, “a summary of the principles of Christian religion in the form of questions and answers, used for the instruction of Christians.” So, no worries, if you are not Catholic or anything. We are evangelicals.
Children's Bible
The children's Bible that is included is called, God's Story. I personally like to refer to them as “accounts” rather than “story”, but other than the title, the book is amazing. There are many colorful pictures to look at and it gives a summarization so that you can quickly get through many Bible accounts / stories in one year. My favorite part is that it has an attached ribbon to use as a bookmark for the page you are reading.
Affordable Christian Curriculum
So, if you are like me, you are probably wondering about the prices, am I right? This very month I am purchasing homeschool books for the next school year as I like to lesson plan during the summer. I have compared them to two other sources and for most items, the price is the same. For some, Master Books is less expensive. I have not found Master Books items to be more expensive on any of the fourteen items I was looking at. Remember to consider free shipping when comparing. Currently, with Master Books it is not very high and free shipping is nice to have. I highly recommend that you check them out!
