Small Bedroom, Big Dreams bed lamp curtains in a small room neededinthehome

Not everyone has the luxury of a spacious bedroom. If you're trying to work with what little space you have, you need to decide what your priorities are. Some people are happy to sacrifice floor space if it means that they can have a larger bed. However, you might be hoping to fit some other furniture into your bedroom, even if it's only small. You don't need to have a lot of space available to make the most of your bedroom. With limited square footage, you can still create an awesome bedroom. Take a look at some of the ways you can save space in your bedroom.

If you're trying to save space in any room, one of the best things you can do is to use the vertical space you have available. Don't just assume that you only have your floor space to work with. You also have the walls and even the ceiling, which can be used for storage and maximizing space in your bedroom. Instead of having a standing bookshelf, use floating shelves that only need to go on the walls. Make use of corners too by using corner shelves. You can hang things from the ceiling using hooks, and you can fix cabinets to the wall to leave you with more space on the floor.

Keep It Light

The color scheme of your bedroom isn't going to make it any bigger, but it can make it seem a lot larger. A dark bedroom might seem cozy, but it's likely to appear pretty small too. Lighter colors will help your bedroom to look bigger so that you feel less suffocated. Choose lighter shades to paint your walls or for accessories like your bedding. Try to get as much natural light into your room as possible, and use light window coverings to achieve this while maintaining privacy. Mirrors are also helpful for reflecting light and helping a room to look larger.

Space-saving Storage

Every bedroom needs storage for clothes if for nothing else. If you don't have enough storage space or your current storage takes up too much space, there are some solutions you can use. One way to save space is to use sliding wardrobe doors for closet space. Your doors will open sideways, instead of outwards, leaving more space for other things. Try installing a small rail on one of your walls, where you can hang some of your clothes, including your outfit for the next day or anything you might be tempted to pile onto a chair.

Tuck In Your Bed

Your bed is going to take up the most space in your bedroom, but you can still prevent it from taking up too much. Instead of placing it in the center of the room, consider tucking it into a corner or up against a wall. This can leave more space around it, and you can try different angles to fit it into the best place. Use the space under your bed too if it's available.

Your bedroom might be small but it doesn't mean you can't have big dreams. Use some smart solutions and you can make the most of your small bedroom.
