Coming back to work (even if you are working from home) and back to real life after the end of another year is always a little bit surreal, but it will also feel fresh and full of new possibilities. The New Year is the perfect opportunity to start a fresh with a clean slate. Let go of the stresses from the previous year and think of yourself as a whole new person.

You may be itching to try the new fitness wrist-band you got for Christmas, or cook with your healthy cookbook, or write in your new journal… the new year is exactly what it says on the tin: new.

It is the perfect opportunity for you to start a fresh and wipe the slate clean. Let go of the stresses from the previous year and think of yourself as a whole new person. It will help you achieve your goals and look at the world in a more optimistic light.

Here are some things that you can be looking to change this year to make yourself a better person and a healthier one, too.

Morning Routine

One of the things that a lot of people neglect is the importance of a good morning routine. Simply getting out of bed, dressed and running to do tasks or work is not a good way to start your day. You will notice that you depend more on coffee and feel sluggish throughout the day because of it. The best way to spend your morning is waking up 30 minutes earlier and taking your time to wake your body up SLOWLY. Try praying and thanking God before you get out of bed, and then go downstairs and drink some lemon water before you eat. These things will kick-start your mind and your metabolism for the day ahead. A good morning routine can be the difference between a great day and a rubbish one, so make sure you have a routine which works for you.

Breakfast

It is the most important meal of the day, and it is the meal which you should focus your energy on. Ideally you will want to be eating a protein rich breakfast every morning. Things like poached egg, avocado on toast, salmon, bacon… all of these things are great for your body and will give it the energy it needs to carry you through those first few hours of the day. If you need to shed a few pounds, yet still need energy, you could try a breakfast shake from Activated You to help your morning routine. Either of the above would help you to have more endurance to complete your tasks.

Drink Up

Our bodies are made up of 70% water, so when people tell you that drinking enough water is crucial for your health, it makes sense right? You need water to fill your cells. It facilitates most of the vital processes in our body and also helps to flush out toxins and bacteria from our bodies. Try your best to drink 8 glasses of water a day.

Budget Yourself

The new year brings the perfect opportunity to form a clean slate for your finances too. Using a site like Debtsettlement.co to help settle any debt you have will allow you to start fresh this year and make better choices. Create a budget each month for your food shop, leisure activities and savings. It might take a bit of getting used to but these changes can mean a huge difference to your life.
