double mirrors and double sinks with brass fixtures in a bathroom with basket of soaps and plant in center top tips for upgrading your bathroom neededinthehome

Whether you’ve been trying to ignore bathroom maintenance issues for some time or feel as though the space looks a little dated, you’ll find that there are many benefits associated with giving the space a makeover. After all, this is one of the most important rooms within your home!

With that in mind, here are some top tips for upgrading your bathroom.

Deal with maintenance issues first

Before you can start picking out new tiles or a color scheme for your upgraded bathroom, you need to make sure that you deal with any pressing maintenance issues. Otherwise, you’re doing nothing more than covering up the issue with a fresh coat of paint. As such, now is the perfect time to reach out to a Local Plumbing Service provider who can help with tasks such as identifying leaks and replacing pipes.

You should also make sure that you deep-clean your bathroom during this time. Make sure to focus on the cleaning duties that you tend to skip over during routine cleaning in order to give yourself the cleanest possible slate to work with moving forward (pun intended).

Grab the paintbrush

Once all of the necessary maintenance work has been carried out, you can get started with repainting the walls (or retiling them, depending on your preference). If you are opting for paint, make sure that you choose a paint that is moisture resistant, as this will help to prevent fading, cracking, and splintering over time.

You should also make sure that you have a color scheme picked out ahead of time! This way, you can make sure everything from the shade of paint selected to towels and linens blends perfectly together.

Think about the lighting

Your choice of lighting can drastically change how your bathroom looks and feels. As such, you need to think carefully about the kind of lighting you’d like to use in this space moving forward. For example, if you’re partial to the occasional candle-lit bubble bath (aka the best form of self-care there is), then you may want to install lighting with a dimmer switch. Alternatively, you may want to choose motion-sensor lights that are activated whenever you step through the door. This makes late-night trips to the bathroom a little less of a tripping hazard!

Think about the finishing touches

Interior designers always encourage homemakers to focus on the finishing touches when redesigning a space. While this seems less important in the bathroom (as it's not a space of entertaining or spending hours on end), there are still plenty of ways in which you can incorporate this practice into your makeover. For example, this could include statement brassware, high-quality towels and linens, or even artwork.

Consider Your Needs

You may decide that two sinks would be better so that two children can brush their teeth and use the sink at the same time to speed up bedtime or morning routines. Or, that you and your spouse each need a mirror and sink to work out of in the morning so you don't need to wait for each other. Do you each need plug ins or does just one of you? Does one of you need more counter space for a make-up organizer?

Final thoughts

In short, there are many steps that you can take to upgrade your bathroom, no matter what your vision for the final product may look like. And, the sooner you get started, the sooner you’ll be able to enjoy the results!
