A holiday is a great opportunity to see new things and get away from real life for a few days (or weeks, if you’re lucky!). However, being so relaxed can be a bit of a problem and invite disaster that you would usually be on the lookout for. Being on holiday is no reason to stop being vigilant or to take undue risks. Here are a few holiday vacation fails to avoid.

Your Flight is Missed or Canceled

It’s a classic, but missing your flight can be a really expensive mistake to make, especially if you have to make further travel connections later on. However, there are a few tips you can follow to try and make the best of things. For example, you should know that many airlines will allow you to transfer to a later flight, as long as the reason you give is something out of your control like a flat tire. However, you shouldn’t rely on being able to bag a free flight later on. Make sure that you know the time of your flight and work backwards to figure out when you need to set off. In other words, if your flight check in is at 4 pm and it takes an hour to get to the airport and 20 minutes to load your car, you should start leaving at 2 pm to factor in some extra time just in case.

Commercial flights can become canceled not only because of the weather, but also due to equipment failures, lack of staff, pilot health, etc. If you don't own your own airplane and have your own pilot's license, it's very difficult to ensure that you can count on the flight to really get you there. Yet driving or taking an airplane would be far too time consuming. The best way to solve this is with booking an on demand private jet charter through Jettly. A major benefit of traveling this way is getting to your destination very quickly without all the waiting and frequent stops that a common commercial flight would give you.

Getting into Trouble in Water

For some reason, people who don’t normally spend time on or in the water are drawn to it while they are on holiday. Perhaps they decide to rent a boat without any experience or take a swim even though they can barely tread water. The first rule of water – whether it is the sea, a lake or a swimming pool – is that you must be able to swim in order to get in. If you can’t swim, then stick to paddling in the shallows with an ice cream or learn how to swim before you go on holiday.

If you do happen to get into some bother on the water, you should know who to call. For example, if you get stranded in a boat, you should know how to operate the radio and call for assistance. And, if disaster does strike, you can call a maritime injury lawyer to help you get the compensation you deserve.

Having Your Property Stolen

You are relaxing at an ice cream stand with your family and then suddenly you realise that someone has just run off with your handbag. Disaster! This is a common issue for many tourists because while we feel safe and calm, others see it as an opportunity to take advantage and steal from us.

When you are out, make sure that you keep an eye on your possessions at all times. While sitting at a table or counter, for example, loop your bag strap under your chair for extra security and don’t leave it unattended at all. You should also make use of hotel safes to lock away your extra cash and valuables. This is especially important if you plan to go to a beach where things might get lost in the sand.

My brother is planning to send his entire family on an Asian cruise holiday this summer. I felt worried about their safety once I read that they can get into an emergency situation on the boat, such as getting stuck on a boat. Luckily, you suggested getting the contact details of an injury attorney as an emergency number. For example, if one of their sons falls into the water from the boat by accident and drowned, calling them will help negotiate the money that they can get to bury him and have the cruise ship owners to contribute to it.
