Spare rooms are every interior design fans dream. There’s just something so fun about having a room that you can turn into anything your heart desires. You’ve got so many options here, but my favorite might be turning it into a playroom for your children. I know, this doesn’t immediately sound like the most amazing idea. Why do that when you could make it an office or a study? Well, I hope that these reasons will convince you that it’s such a brilliant idea.

It Gives Your Children A Place To Play
Obviously, a playroom is a room for your children to play in. No, I’m not a genius, the clue is in the name! This is beneficial as it gives your kids somewhere to play every day. They won’t be running around all over the house causing you grief, they’ll be in one place, safe and sound. It’s also a great place to put loads of toys for them too. You could look at indoor playhouses for kids, a remote control car racetrack, and loads of other big toys that you may have been unable to let them have in their bedroom. Your kids will love the room, and if you keep them happy, then you generally tend to have an easier life as a consequence!
Keeps Clutter Contained In One Place
A messy house can really look horrible and make you feel self-conscious when you have guests around. It’s not your fault, you always clean up after yourself. It's your children and all their toys scattered everywhere. Each room contains at least ten trip and fall hazards to navigate around thanks to your kids. But, with a playroom, you move all their toys to one place. It frees up space in your home and helps keep the clutter contained to one room. In many ways, it’s almost like a giant storage cupboard – but your kids can play inside it.
Leads To A Quieter Home
Now, you’re probably wondering how moving your children’s playtime into one room helps keep your home quieter. Well, if you shut the door, then you can already block out some sound. But, you could also soundproof the room, making it virtually impossible to hear your kids laughing and screaming. I know, what happens if something goes wrong and they’re in danger? Don’t worry, you can easily install home security cameras in the room to check on them at all times. Now, you can relax and do your daily tasks in peace and quiet while your kids have fun in the playroom.
Doesn’t sound like such a silly idea after all, does it? I know most of you want to turn a spare room into something you’ll personally get enjoyment out of, and will liven your home. But, when you turn it into a playroom for kids, you will see plenty of knock-on benefits. Imagine a quieter, neater home, with your children happily playing in a playroom – it sounds too good to be true! At the very least, give it some serious thought.

Our spare room was rarely used, but reserved for guests. We replaced the double bed with a trundle daybed and it has made all the difference. The drawer of the daybed is used for toy storage. Even when the room’s a mess, I love that the chaos is localized so I can enjoy the rest of the house. The storage has also made it a breeze to clean up.

That’s a great idea of having the drawer for toy storage and keeping the chaos localized when needed. Thanks for stopping by.
