If there’s one thing you can expect from life, it’s that the unexpected will happen. This is certainly true when managing or maintaining your own home. It may be that because of improperly maintained power lines, one day you have to do without power for twenty-four hours. Another day, you may find that internet cable infrastructure upgrades in the area slows down your internet speeds. Sometimes there are road works that seem to take place forever at the end of your street, or maybe an unobservant driver knocks down part of your front driveway wall. It might not happen daily, but these things do happen and will likely affect someone in your city or town this very moment.

For this reason, having a few emergency contact numbers on hand in all places (be that a physical contact book, your online accounts, or your contact list on your smartphone), can ensure you’ll gain a quick response when needed. But what should those services be, outside of the usual authorities? Let’s list some::
Locksmith
We all think that we’ll be prepared for a difficulty like locking ourselves out of our house or car, but that’s the thing, no one exactly pencils this in as a given appointment to deal with. It happens without your permission. Having someone you know will arrive within a reasonable time can be a true godsend at a moment like this, so be sure to save their number in all your address books.
Roof Repair
Having a roofer you trust is invaluable. Roof damage left unchecked can lead to bigger issues and sometimes even full-blown roofing emergencies, so it’s always better to get these things sorted as soon as possible and having someone you can trust to work on your roofing system even if you’re not at home.
Pest Control
It’s never a good day when you discover you’re not the only one living in your home. Unwanted pests, (it doesn’t matter if they’re insects or larger furry friends), can cause damage and make your home feel a lot less comfortable. Pests don’t wait for the right time to show up, so having pest control on hand to deal with an issue quickly is ver y wise and can prevent an infestation from growing.
Plumbers
Plumbing problems can range from mildly annoying to downright devastating – perhaps even rendering your home unlivable because of how the water has seeped into the entire space. We don’t intend to make you panic of course, but that’s just what can happen. A slow drain might not seem like a big deal at first, but if it gets worse, you could end up with standing water in your home, and that’s just one example. Having plumbers that can come 24/7 if they need to could help you avoid a long annoyance trying to put everything back in place.
With this advice, we hope you can more easily find recourse even in an unfortunate and frustrating household emergency. Of course, besides household emergencies, always keep your local police, fire department, ambulance, hospital/clinic and poison control numbers as well. An emergency could happen sooner or later, so it’s best to be prepared.
