5 Ways You Can Express Yourself Today
Read on for 5 ways you can express yourself today:
Paint A Picture
Painting a picture can be very therapeutic, and you might even create a work of art worthy of your mantelpiece. Don’t be mistaken: you don't have to be good at art to paint a picture. Simply use the colors you feel like using and create something totally unique, forgetting what you know about modern art or what art ‘should’ look like. Don’t attach yourself to the end result and just paint. See what happens.
Go Dancing
Dancing is a great way to exercise. It can help you to let off steam, burn calories, and feel de-stressed in an instant. You don’t need to have any dance training, but going to dance lessons will help you to feel more confident on a dance floor and you might learn something amazing. You could always just put your favorite CD on at home and dance in your living room, though!
Write Something
Write a short poem. It could be a haiku, or it could be something longer. Write a short story. Write a journal entry. Just free write and write out whatever comes into your head without judging yourself or editing it in any way. This can give you an insight into how you’re thinking and feeling, and if you do it often enough, you can notice patterns in your behaviour and thinking and then work through them as needed.
Sing A Song
Singing at the top of your lungs is always a bit of a release, isn’t it? Put on some Celine Dion, Adele, or Whitney Houston and go to town. Get in the car, drive for a while, and sign until you feel better. You could even write and sing your own song if you feel inclined to do so. All of the best songs were written after something actually happened to the artist that affected them so much they felt like writing about it.
Dress Up
Express yourself through your clothing. Wear clothes that make you feel bright, happy, and special. Don’t save them for a special occasion – every day is a special occasion! It might sound cliche, but it’s true. Wear clothes that make you feel amazing and tell people who you are. Don’t conform. Wear things that you genuinely love that help you express your personality.
Which of the above will you try to help you express yourself? If you have any of your own ideas and techniques, make sure you leave them below!
