Photographs are such special things. A lot of the time, we might take them for granted, snapping quick shots of things that we never look at again or delete very soon after taking them. Many images create memories that will last a lifetime. Then we seek ways to display family photos.

Note: Some links in this post are affiliate links, which means I receive a commission if you make a purchase. Affiliate relationships include, but are not limited to Amazon Associates, Walmart.com, and Etsy.

On occasion, and particularly when there is a professional photographer involved, some beautiful images can emerge. To make sure as many people see those unique photos as possible, and so we can look at them for years to come and remember the occasion well, it’s important to display them correctly. Family photos are especially important, as children grow so quickly that these images in particular capture a fleeting moment in time that has to be looked after. With that in mind, here are some of the best ways to display your precious family photos to their best advantage.

Choose The Best Pictures

Whether you take hundreds of photos every day or just a handful when you have a special occasion, not every image is going to be a great one, and even the good ones may not be right for your home. In order for the photos you pick to stand out and make an impact, you need to be sparing and only display the ones that mean the most to you.

When going through your photos to choose the right ones for your home, you’ll need to select something that evokes emotion in you. Does it make you laugh or cry (in a good way)? This could be the one. Does it also bring back some lovely memories or show how much you all love one another? This is important too.

Create A Gallery

Although you won’t want thousands of photos all lining your walls and taking up space, removing the specialness of the best ones, if you have a story to tell, don’t be afraid to create a gallery to tell it in. You might pick a theme such as your travel adventures or birthday parties, for example. If you want to hang more than one photo, try to make those photos explain what was happening and tell your story for you.

If you decide on a gallery like this, you should make sure all the photos are of the same size, in the same frames (or on a canvas), and hung in the right order otherwise the theme will be lost, and it will look confusing. Something else to think about is where these images will go; if they are going on the wall, use sticky picture hangers so that you don’t cause any damage.

Shelving

If you would prefer not to hang your photos on the walls, perhaps because you don’t have a lot of space or you don’t like the aesthetic, shelving can be an ideal solution. You can place them around your home in varying positions, and you can choose materials and colors that will match the rest of your décor.

Something else that makes using shelving an ideal way to display your family photos is that you can easily switch the images any time you like. This means your display will always look different and can change any time you want it to.
