The fact that your kids are homeschooled doesn’t mean you should not organize homeschool spirit week. Remember, all work and no play make Jack a dull boy.

There were approximately 5 million homeschooled children in the United States in March 2021. This might increase by December 2021, as more American parents buy into the homeschooling idea as the Coronavirus Delta Variant rages. However, on a brighter note, you can put positive experiences into homeschooling. That said, here are some ways to enjoy your homeschool spirit week.

Culinary culture

This can be fun if you prepare adequately in advance. Culinary culture helps your homeschooled kids to appreciate other people’s traditions. It also broadens their knowledge of continents and the origins of other people. Moreover, you can help your kids choose and draw countries they would love to learn to make it more exciting. You can also choose foods peculiar to these continents since it is about culinary culture. Perhaps, you can draw the flags of these countries and dress up in the colors of these nations.

Your children can use the cooking moment to learn about new ingredients used. Indeed, it can be cumbersome to cook an unknown meal from scratch. Therefore, another alternative is to order that particular dish from a restaurant. You should have done your checks ahead of time to enable a smooth culinary culture day during your improvised spirit week.

Movie appreciation

You can appreciate movies with your kids, irrespective of their age. You only need to have ample time to make the selections in advance. You should understand these child-friendly films’ themes and don’t restrict your kids to human movies only. Fortunately, several animated movies tackle age-appropriate themes to make your movie appreciation day an edutainment. According to parents with homeschooling experience, you can opt for classics. Usually, you will find more resource materials for classics like:

  • The Pink Panther
  • West Side Story (appropriate for ages 12 and above)
  • Gladiator

On movie appreciation day, you and kids can choose to wear PJs all day or opt for customized spirit wear shirts and matching PJ pants.

Art appreciation day

Getting kids to appreciate art will need a lot of creativity. Because art is a wide area, you and kids can choose what kind to explore. For example, you can dress up in Middle Age fashion if you decide to embrace medieval art. The women wore lengthy gowns with tunics and covered their hair with wimples. Men also wore tunics, cloaks, and pants made from sheepskin. Fortunately, these clothing items can be purchased on various online shops across the US, as a simple Google search will help you locate them.

Dedicate each day to a particular event or theme during your homeschool spirit week. In essence, make it a point to impart knowledge to your kids each day as a way to spruce up their homeschooling. Hopefully, you’ll consider these exciting ideas as you prepare your kids for a memorable homeschool spirit week.
