Driveways - Is there beauty in simplicity? a scuffed driveway in front of a modern home with minimal greenery neededinthehome

Driveways shouldn’t be complicated right? They’re just a place for you to park your car conveniently outside your front door. They shouldn’t be excessively designed and need maintenance all the time. They just need to be flat, smooth and wide, no matter if they’re boring and dull. Well, that might be for some people but a simple design for your driveway doesn’t have to be caveman-basic. There’s beauty in simplicity if done right, but you need to appreciate subtlety and take extra care in your choice of materials. The colors are also important if you plan on just having a couple that contrast each other. The pattern, fitting and style are the three things you should be focusing on the most. The simpler your driveway is, the most sturdy it's going to be and won’t have bits falling off or cracking as the years go by.

Is There Beauty In Simplicity When It Comes To Driveways?

Simple and stoic

A driveway needs to be strong all the way from end to end. Bear in mind that even though the surface may look smooth or strong, how the material was laid is important to the structural rigidity. A poorly laid driveway won’t account for the soft soil underneath or the mound of soil and grass that wasn’t properly removed. What you often get is little bumps and dips that cause rainwater to pool or run down one side. This can cause cracking in the long run and under the weight of a heavy vehicle like a family SUV, this can sink the driveway into the ground, causing a small pothole.

For something simple, strong and stoic, contact concrete driveway contractors as they will smooth out the terrain first, and layer on the material evenly. It's hard to get a totally smooth driveway when using asphalt or gravel, but concrete can be smoothed out while on the floor by hand. There are different ways of creating a concrete driveway so pick a company that meets your needs and standards specific to your driveway features.

Tiles and plants

Many people will tile their driveway around the borders and leave it at that. But, next time you see one of these driveways, take a look at the grass that’s either side of where they park the cars. No doubt, the grass will have worn away, exposing the soil underneath. And then, eventually that soil is flattened by the tires and soon you have a driveway that has a garden that looks tired while the driveway has soil and dirt everywhere. Instead of just tiling around the border, you should have a row of plants as well. This way you have a natural barrier, reminding you to keep off the garden and not ruin it with tire marks. The plants can be your choice, and depending on your taste, they can bring color and vibrancy to a somewhat mundane driveway.

Keep it simple and it shall last. Driveways don't have to be fancy, they can be very basic but designed to take advantage of as much space as possible. A concrete driveway may look beige and boring, but the material is spread out by hand, so you get a much more even and smooth surface than say pebbles and asphalt.

Can’t agree more to your Driveway point, people usually fail to realize the great advantages they can get from a simple driveway.
Great post, keep up the good work!
