If your little guy is turning six soon, I have some ideas of what to get him for a gift! These ideas also make great Christmas gifts. Just have a look below and see if any would be a good match for his personality.

Great Gifts for a Six Year Old Boy
Fun Book
Books are great, but when you are six years old, you want to do something cool with it – like shine a flashlight through the page to make an object appear! You can do that with a Shine-a-Light book from PaperPie.
Book and Puzzle Combo
Why not get a puzzle with a 24 page picture book included with this Dinosaurs Book and Jigsaw Puzzle combo?
Building Toys
Building Toys are a great gift to give because you can add more pieces for your next gift.
One item that we found a few pieces of in an abandoned storage unit was Magformers. We had never heard of them before. We only had a few pieces, but the kids love playing with them and were playing with them all the time and in so many different ways. They would stick them on items to see if they were magnetic. They would try them on hinges, doorknobs, the dog collar! We thought it would be fun to get more of them so they could be even more creative with them, and we were very happy with this purchase!
Many boys this age are into LEGO building and would love to have more pieces to build with. You can help with the gift of a LEGO Classic set.
If you have a baby or toddler sleeping, here is something he can play with that is “quiet.” Or, if you are homeschooling, it's a nice quiet activity he can do while you are reading a homeschool book to him (and probably nursing the baby at the same time or whatever else you are doing as a multi-tasker). We love these Foam Building Blocks. They won't make a racket when the tower falls over and are lightweight so they may do things ordinary blocks won't do. Another pro, if his 2 year old brother throws a block at him, it won't hurt!
You can't go wrong with a nice set of wooden blocks to give the kids hours of imaginative play. This set is sold on Etsy by KubiyaGames.
Problem Solving Toys
I like toys and games that help my child to learn and think creatively. These are some great ideas to try!
My son is interested in vehicles and watching cars go by our front window and telling me what type and color of a vehicle it is so I think he would like Rush Hour Jr. It is a fun, single player game with 40 puzzle challenges to help him think logically.
We love to get out big puzzles and put them together. This is a great puzzle from Melissa & Doug.
Pretend Play Toys
Does he want to be a doctor when he grows up? You could give him a pretend play doctor costume. I like this one sold on Etsy that comes with a doctor coat, scrubs, a stethoscope and a cardboard doctor bag in the size you choose by MyLittleDoc.
Lego City Ice Cream Truck is a great, easy to build set that stays together well (we have one so I know!) and is so fun for boys to use! They can buy or sell ice cream all over their toy room!
His Favorites To Add To
Our son has a Thomas the Train Wooden Railway set on a train table and loves to receive something to add to his set. You can take your play to the air with this Thomas the Train Wooden Railway Harold's Helipad set.
What boy doesn't love Matchbox cars? He may not need another car, but he could use more storage space. He would love a toy car storage box to park them in.
What are your favorite toys for a six year old boy?
