Reset your expectations

If you want to keep your home clean and tidy even when energy is in short supply, it can be very helpful to rethink your cleanliness expectations.  While it's true that many magazines and websites show immaculately clean and styled interiors,  living in this way is neither necessary nor practical for most families.

Instead, making your expectations a little more realistic and focusing on a ‘clean enough’  approach is better. In particular, focusing on the areas of your home that are most visible for cleaning can help it feel as if you live in a clean and tidy home.  Also, cleaning in short bursts can be incredibly effective while preserving both physical and mental energy.  Remember, you can get a heck of a lot done in 10 minutes,  which means you really don't have to spend hours and hours every day cleaning your home.

Declutter first, then clean

Next, if you want to keep your home clean,  even when your energy levels are low, it's very helpful to approach things in the right order. In this case, it's useful to first declutter your home and then use your energy to clean it.  This is because the less clutter you have,  the faster and easier your cleaning tasks will be.  For example, imagine you have to clean your kitchen counters.  This can be a long and complex task if you have many appliances and products left out.  However, when these items are either removed or put away in their proper storage space,  it becomes a matter of simply spraying and wiping the counters down.

Finding the energy to declutter your home can be just as challenging as finding the energy to clean it.  That is why it can be very useful to work with a professional offering junk removal services in your area. The main benefit of using such a junk removal service is that they do all the heavy lifting for you, clearing your space fast and disposing of the items in the most environmentally responsible way.

Assign chores to family members

Another great tip for keeping your home clean and tidy when you are exhausted is to make sure that everyone in your household is pulling their weight.  What this means is assigning chores to family members so everyone is contributing to keeping the home clean and tidy.

When it comes to giving the kids tools to complete, you will need to carefully consider their age and what they are able to do effectively and safely.  For example, younger kids may be able to put their toys away and dust simple areas.  Whereas older kids can do more complex tasks, such as mopping floors and doing the dishes.  It can really help to rotate the tasks everyone does on a monthly or weekly basis, too.  In this way, you can avoid the boredom and the resistance this can create when it comes to completing cleaning chores.
