Your home is your safe place. However, whether you’re worried about crime reports in the area, or are heading out on an extended vacation, it can be hard to know what you can do to protect your property. Fortunately, that is where this mini guide comes in!

This is because it is highly durable and shatter-resistant, which can, therefore, prevent individuals from breaking your windows in order to access your property. 

2. Install Security Cameras. Installing security cameras is another incredibly effective way in which you can protect your home for years to come. For example, a recent study found that “60% of burglars will choose another target if they find cameras.” Not only that, but the presence of cameras means that you have plenty of evidence on hand when pressing changes in the future.

Furthermore, home security cameras and devices will provide you with a greater sense of security when traveling, as you can access or view the cameras from anywhere in the world, allowing you to keep a closer eye on your home. 

3. Install Security Alarms. Installing security alarms can also provide you with greater peace of mind moving forward. While they are not a deterrent per say, they will ensure that the relevant authorities are informed as quickly as possible should a break-in take place. This means that you can gain access to the help and support you need right away, and the chances of the perpetrators being apprehended is much higher.

Sharing your location on social media or advertising when you are away from home in real-time lets other people know that your home is empty or unattended. This, in some cases, could mean that you are then vulnerable to theft, burglary, and more. For this reason, you should be sure to be mindful about what you post online – sharing pictures/videos with close, trusted friends and family only.

5. Make sure that you always lock your windows and doors when at home. While you may be used to locking your doors and windows when you are leaving your home, you should avoid leaving them unlocked when at home, too. This is because a startling 2/3 of burglaries take place when the homeowner is present, with many gaining access through unsecured windows or unlocked doors. Remember, the harder it is for individuals to access your home, the more protected you are!
