Colours

Colours are everything when it comes to interior design. Different rooms suit different colours more. For example, in the bedrooms and living rooms you can afford to be a bit more bright and out there. The kitchen and bathrooms tend to be a bit more monotone. What you need to consider is what you want the feel of the room to be. If you go for brighter colours it is sometimes harder to match them with furniture. The main thing is making sure everything is coordinated and you’re happy with what you’ve chose. If you’re wallpapering, there is so much more out there in terms of design. With paint it’ll just be one colour per wall. With wallpaper there are some really beautiful floral, as well as other, designs for you to try.

Additions

There are some beautiful interior design treats that you can put into your home. The first being the furniture. Every so often you will need to change this, and when you do, it can completely transform the look of a home. There’s a divide about what material of furniture is better, but at the minute, leather seems to be winning. It has a bit more class about it, and it’s easy to clean! As for dining furniture, a nice oak table is going to look perfect if you’re trying to keep it classy. Talking of oak, why not go a little rustic in your home. There are beautiful oak beams for your home that you can make into anything. It could be a nice porch, or even just beams within the house that truly will give it that rustic feel. Lighting fixtures are also something you need to be focusing on, especially in the dining room. Low hanging, almost chandelier like, lighting fixtures seem to be all the rage at the minute, and they’re not even that expensive!

Trends

There are two major interior design trends circulating at the minute. The first is the grey and white colour scheme. It does look so smart, and it is easy to see why it is so popular. Another one is the Hygge inspired interior design look. This implies that the more cosy, simplistic and natural your design is, the better the home will look. There have been some really great examples of both. Plus, the celebrities are loving them as well! All you need to do is search around for some inspiration to find what look is going to best suit your home.
