I absolutely love to see pictures of Mothers and their children. Especially when they wear something in the same colors or patterns and they coordinate.

For me, it reminds me of a very special memory. The year was 2003. It was August and my Mom asked what I wanted for my 30th birthday coming up the end of the month. I told her that we were planning to get our pictures taken in September at Sears of my husband, Mike and our son and a separate picture of my daughters and I. What I really wanted was clothing for all three of us girls that would match in some way and I told her our sizes.
I remember my birthday presents from her. She gave me a sketch pad and colored pencils with an encouraging note inside and she handmade matching dresses for my daughters and I. She said she couldn't find any at the stores or in catalogs so she made them. What a wonderful gift!
I proudly wore my dress with my daughters for our photo shoot at Sears. I finally had a mother and children picture. I couldn't wait to show my Mom.
Sadly, she never got to see them. She died of a sudden heart attack before I picked up the photo. We were able to display it at her funeral and I told guests that she made the dresses.
In retrospect, I sometimes wish I would have asked her to be in the picture and had made it a multi-generational photo.
I recently found a great place to buy mother and child coordinates. I have to share it with you and if your Mother is still alive, you may want to invite her to also get a matching outfit and sit for a pose, just so you always have that to look back on.
They also have boy clothes.
These would be great to wear at a family holiday gathering where there are always lots of photographs! You want to look great in case it gets put out there on social media by that “social media butterfly” relative of yours!
The store I want to tell you about is called Janie & Jack, or J&J for short. You may want to order some of their collection for your next photo session. Here is some press release information about them:

Photos are so special to look back on and while your Mum is missing from these family portraits the story of the love with which she stitched your outfits lives on. My Mum died this summer and I realise too late how few photos we have of her from the last year or with my youngest son. She was so present in our lives we didn’t have special occasions to pull the camera out for, just lots of ordinary moments we shall cherish without a photo to mark them.
