Five Things Your Bedroom Needs
From The Bottom Up
Start with the flooring. There are so many styles to choose from, from slick laminate flooring to plush carpeting and decorative tiles. You may want to try a mixture of textures or choose underfloor heating. The world really is your oyster and the type of flooring you choose can influence the look and feel of the room. Take your time to plan out what makes you feel comfortable. There’s no point opting for that Moroccan themed ornate tiling if you prefer something softer underfoot.
Storage
Do you need a full wall length wardrobe or will a simple chest of drawers do? A made to measure option may suit if you are after a bespoke look and of course, the size of the room will dictate the size of storage that is possible. For the cosier space investigate the beds available at John Ryan by Design that consist of intuitive and clever under frame storage solutions. If you’re blessed with larger sleeping quarters, you could opt for the sleek fitted wardrobe look.
Furniture
Will you need a desk and chair, a chaise lounge or a comfy armchair? Having a place to sit is almost a compulsory extra for a comfortable bedroom. Whether you are getting ready for a night out or simply going through the morning routine, having a place to sit, other than the bed that you have already made up is a bonus. You could even venture into the world of antiques. A nineteenth century walnut chair will undoubtedly add that extra bit of uniqueness to your bedroom.
Windows
There are so many options for windows, from blinds to curtains, that you can have quirky curtain rails or none at all. Made to measure blinds also come with different designs, colors and materials so that they can complement the furniture and design of your bedroom. You can also have blackout blinds when there is nothing more precious in the world than a couple of extra hours of sleep.
Lighting
Spotlights with a dimmer switch can create a varied ambience. However, you may want to consider something that stands out from the crowd, such as a centerpiece on the ceiling in the form of a classical chandelier for that extra wow factor.
Bedside lamps are also a staple of most bedrooms; however, if you are more adventurous, you can choose strip lighting that changes color and a spotlight that switches on and off with a clap. Mirrors can also pick up and distribute the light in your bedroom to create a cozy and inviting space.
Your bedroom should be a highly personalized space. With your individuality shining through, you could have the most comfortable bedroom in the world. Probably.
