Each new year is a chance to start over; to improve your lot in life and build a brighter future. This year is no exception, and if you’re serious about undergoing a personal transformation, there has arguably never been a better time to do so, what with all the modern resources available to each and every one of us.

[ctt template=”4″ link=”AoH35″ via=”yes” ]If you want this year to be your best yet, then here are a few ways to start transforming your life in the new year for the better.[/ctt]

If you want this year to be your best yet here are a few things that could prove completely transformational:

Create Your Vision for the Future

This might sound a bit new age wishy-washy, but taking some time to sit down and think about where you want to be a year, five years or even ten years down the line can be a powerful way of transforming your life for the better. After all, if you don’t know where you want to be, you’re going to have a pretty hard time getting there. So, whether you want to have a more fulfilling career by 2019, create a socially responsible business or simply spend more time enjoying life with your kids, set down your vision (in a journal, on a vision board, using apps) and start making it happen.

Learn Something New

Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you should put learning on the backburner; as long as we’re living, we should be learning. So, take that online learning course in accountancy so you can cut down your business expenses, visit Craftsy and finally work out how to crochet, so you have a fun activity to do with the kids or take that creative writing class that you never thought you were capable enough to do well in. Chances are, you won’t regret it.

Bet on Weight Loss

If you overindulged in 2017, this new year presents the perfect opportunity for you to get back in shape. If you find it hard to exercise and eat healthy meals consistently, try a website like Diet Bet, which allows you to bet on your weight loss goals, thus giving you an extra incentive, and (hopefully) finally making those healthy habits stick. Alternatively, you could just get the whole family involved in a private bet and that way; you’ll all get the benefit of a more active lifestyle.

Get a Mentor

This is particularly a good idea if you’re planning to build a business or go for that dream job this year, but a good mentor can help you with everything from losing weight and getting fit to becoming more community minded. Or follow a spiritual mentor: attend their church, meet with them weekly to talk about what you are reading in your Bible.  It’s just a case of finding someone who’s successful in ways you want to be, connecting with them and learning everything you can to ensure that a personal transformation takes place.

Allow for Failure

Just because it’s a new year, of course, it doesn’t mean that things will automatically be different. If you truly want to transform your life, you have to be in it for the long-haul, and that means slip-ups are likely to happen. You need to plan for these and accept your failures. If you can do this, then you’re much more likely to pick yourself up again and keep working towards the new you.

Time to start your transformation!
