front entryway to home with bench coat hooks baskets for accessories and shelving high impact ways to improve your homes value neededinthehome

If you want to add value to your home, then there are a number of ways you can do this. If you’re not quite sure where to start, then simply look below for some ideas.

Some links in this post are affiliate links, which means I receive a commission if you make a purchase.

Add some Storage

Whether your kitchen is big or small, having enough storage is always a smart move. You need to try and take advantage of any unclaimed walls that you might have, and you also need to use open shelving. This is a very good way for you to keep your dishes, spices, and even cookware within reach. If you like to entertain, then you can also consider mounting a wire rack next to your cabinets so you can store glasses and cups. This, combined with upper cabinetry, is a very good way for you to get what you need.

Restore your Floor

Another thing you can do is try and restore the shine to your wooden floor. The versatility of wood and the warmth that it’s able to offer are unlike any other type of flooring material. With that said, when you expose your floor to dirt daily, and you have a lot of dust to deal with, you may find that your floor ends up looking dull and distressed. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to restore your floor’s shine by taking the time to polish it with something that is suited to hardwood floors in particular. If you have a wooden floor, then you should aim to polish it once every six months or so. If you can do this, then you will notice a huge improvement in how your home looks and feels, which is great to say the least. If you feel that your floor is beyond repair, then it’s a good idea to focus on getting new hardwood flooring fitted. When you do, you will notice that it is easier to maintain it and that it adds a great deal of value to your home. Small improvements like this can be done in just a few days, but in some instances, they can add thousands to your home.

Focus on your Fireplace

If you have a boring brick fireplace, then now is the time for you to give it a fresh makeover with some new paint. Before you even think about doing this, you need to make sure that you thoroughly clean the fireplace and that you loosen up any grime. If you can do this, then you will notice that it is then easy for you to add a stain-blocking primer. This can be applied to the surface before you paint it. It will also help you to cover any soot stains, which is great to say the least. If you want to get the result you need, then it’s a good idea for you to go for a high-gloss paint, as this will give you a contemporary look that will really give you what you need.

Try a New Hue

By simply adding some color, you will notice that your home improvements are way more impactful. If you update your bathroom cabinets and give them a brand-new look, then this will make a world of difference. With that said, if you also take the time to repaint your bathroom, then this will compound the improvement even more. If you have never given much thought to updating your bathroom like this before, then this could be one area that you are missing out on.

Stop Clutter

Clutter is a big deal. If you have a lot of clutter by your front door, then this is something you need to sort out. The entryway has a big job, and it needs to make a good impression. If you use it as a drop zone, then this will impact you more than you realize. If you want to do something about this, then make sure that you add a function by adding a storage system. You can use furniture to act as a double duty here, which will make a big difference to your home. It may be that you have a bench that also acts as a storage caddy, or a place for shoes. You can also use the right combination of storage solutions as a way to make your entryway look organized and inviting. This is a great way for you to make a positive change, so be sure to keep that in mind.

Highlight your Space

Another thing you need to do is try and highlight your space with lighting. Beautiful light fixtures can go a long way when it comes to energizing your space, and they also help you to create stunning designs that are impactful. If you want to light a room, then one of the best things you can do is create layers of light and then accent them with ambient lighting. This is a great way for you to get the result you need, and you would be surprised at what a difference it can make to your home overall. If you want a good starting point here, then one thing you can do is add a pendant light or even a chandelier. You can also add a sconce on the wall. If you want to add an industrial fitting, then this will make a major style statement, and you may also find that it helps to provide a targeted light source overall.

Closet Clutter

Closet clutter is your worst enemy. When it comes to closet clutter, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Rushing off for a new organizer is the worst thing you can do here, so make sure that you take the time to measure your space and also make sure that you are taking note of what it is you have to store. If you can do this while also considering any needs that you might have in the future, then this will help you a lot. When you are sure of what you need to put in there, you can then find home improvement ideas that help you to maximize capacity as a whole. Cut the clutter, and you will soon find that your space works for you more and that you can balance your routine items with much more efficiency.

Under-Sink Filters

Another improvement you can make to your home would be to invest in an under-sink filter. This will give you great-tasting water, and it also means your sink isn’t cluttered. Even better, you can install a water filter without having to hire a professional. Just make sure that before you start, you are taking the time to measure your space, because if you don't have room under your sink to install your filter, then you may not be able to move ahead with this. You may also find that you can’t accommodate the size of filter you need to make a big difference, so you need to make sure that you keep this in mind if you can.

Modular Shelving

If you believe that space is coming at a premium for you, then you need to boost your walls and invest in something like shelving. Modular shelving is great here, and it’s available in a range of shapes and sizes. When you invest in it, you will soon find that it fits any size of room as well. Books and display pieces can add a lot of colorful elements here, and it's a great way for you to ensure that everything fits perfectly. You can pick up modular shelving from almost anywhere, and when you do, you will notice a huge difference in your home, and it can also help you to keep your clutter at bay.

Your Entrance

Another thing you need to try and do is focus on your entrance if you can. Polish the look of your front door by adding some smaller accessories that make a really big punch. Details, including house numbers, outdoor lighting, and even letterboxes, are all very good here, and they can give your home a very distinctive personality. Matching finishes on accessories like this will help you to get a tailored look, and it also helps you to create an aesthetic that truly feels one of a kind. If you don’t focus on the smaller things, then you may find that the bigger things don't have as much impact as they could, so try and keep this in mind. Don’t be afraid to inject a bit of personality here either. If you feel like you don’t quite like your front door color, then consider painting it in something bolder. If you spend all of your time trying to appeal to other people, then this will make it difficult for you to get the result you want, so make sure that you keep this in mind, as it will help you to bring everything together.

So as you can see, it’s entirely possible to make huge improvements to your home without putting much effort in at all. Why not see if you can make some of these changes today?
