3 People That Can Help You Make Smarter Investments

What is a smart investment? Basically, it’s an investment that generates a big return for you. You spend some money, but you get back a lot more than you put in. The wealthiest and most financially stable people in the world tend to make smarter investments than others. As someone who is relatively new to the world of finance and investing, how can you make better investment choices?

Well, you can use other people’s knowledge and advice to figure out the best investments to make. In fact, there are typically three different people that can help you make smarter investments with your money:

A financial advisor

A financial advisor has undergone years of training to ensure they understand the financial market as best as possible. Their job is to advise you on what to do with your finances. This includes advising you on the best investments you can make. They typically assist with financial planning as well, drawing up a roadmap for you to travel down. You provide them with a sum of money to invest, and they will do it for you. Of course, you have to agree to all the investments, but they help you grow your wealth over time. It’s rare to find a financial advisor that looks for quick buy and sell investments to make fast profits, they’re usually about safe yet smart long-term investments.

A wealth management advisor

Essentially, a wealth management advisor is a subset of financial advisors that deals with specific clients. As noted on the Prio Wealth Management website, wealth management tends to deal with individuals that have a lot of money. We’re talking funds in the millions of dollars here. People with this much money will have more investment opportunities, so they require more help.

We want to make financial plans that are intentional with a goal in mind. Often, we haven't had the opportunity to really sit down, define the true purpose behind our money, and build a plan that makes a real difference. A wealth management advisor can help with defining and achieving these goals. So, if you have a lot of money to invest, you might want to speak to one of these people instead of a regular financial advisor.

An investment broker

Lastly, you could work with an investment broker to make investments. Brokers are different from financial advisors and wealth managers in that they tend to only give investment guidance. They won’t help with financial planning; their job is to buy and sell investments for you, offering personalized investment advice. What’s more, they typically have years of experience in one area of investing. For example, you will find stockbrokers that focus on the stock market. If you want to make specific investments in specific areas, a broker could be the best option for you.

In all three cases, you’re calling upon someone else’s extensive knowledge to help you make better and smarter investments. You don’t know the best approach, but these people do. Ironically, working with them is an investment in itself! You have to pay these people, but you benefit from generating more returns than you would on your own. Weigh up things like fees and costs before you hire anyone to help you with your investments.
