There’s no shortage of home improvement projects you can undertake at your property, but the best ones are those that improve the livability of your home and increase the value of your home. Those projects are great because they enhance your experience of being at home while at the same time strengthening your financial future.
In this post, we’re going to run through a few home improvement projects that’ll increase your enjoyment of your home and gently nudge its value in the right direction. Let’s take a look.

Eco-Friendly Upgrades
There are two reasons why homebuyers are willing to pay more for homes that have eco-friendly touches. One, many people just want to live in a property that has as low an impact on the planet as possible. And two, many of the eco-friendly upgrades you can make to your home result in lower energy bills.
So if you’re looking at upgrades that benefit you, potential buyers, and the natural earth, then look at making eco-friendly upgrades such as improved insulation and solar panels. Solar panels in particular are worthwhile; they can have a high start-up cost, but they pay for themselves after a few years since they essentially eliminate energy bills.
Improve the Kitchen
Looking for a stylish way to enhance your quality of life at home and increase the value of your property? Then take a look at undertaking a kitchen remodeling project. The kitchen has long been regarded as the heart of the home, so it should come as no surprise that it’s one of the first things that potential buyers look at when they’re visiting a property. Not planning on putting your property up for sale for a while? No problem — that just means that you’ll get to enjoy all the advantages of having a new, modern kitchen.
Spruce Up The Yard
The external part of your home makes a big impact on potential buyers, both the front and back. Good curb appeal can make the property more inviting — for you as well as buyers — while the backyard, done correctly, can function as a de facto additional living space.
You don’t need to go overboard when improving these areas. In the front, adding a few plants and power washing the driveway can make a difference. In the back, adding a decking area, investing in some landscaping, and adding a water feature can all make a big difference to the overall experience.
Add Square Footage
The more usable space a property has, the more valuable it is. Of course, while you can knock down some walls and make your home bigger, you don’t necessarily need to, not if you have a basement or attic at least. It’s actually usually better to renovate an existing space rather than add additional space since the costs of those projects can quickly spiral out of control. Look at transforming the attic into a bedroom and the basement into a lounge area. Both options are much more affordable, yet just as impactful.
