Summer is right around the corner and quickly approaching. You want to make sure that you and your property are in good shape to enjoy the season and warmer weather.

There are some tasks and maintenance you’ll want to make sure you perform and keep up with. This way your home will be a more pleasant and safer place to be as the temperatures increase and you want to be outdoors. Take the time to review four ways you can get your home ready for summer.

Service Your HVAC System

The last situation you want is for the air conditioning unit to stop working when it’s hot outside. This would be very uncomfortable, especially if you have young kids. Look it over and make sure it’s clean and clear from any debris. Now is a good time to call and make an appointment to get your HVAC system checked out and serviced. It’s also wise to inspect your HVAC ducts for any leaks and get them sealed as quickly as possible to avoid energy waste. You’ll also want to change your filters to ensure proper airflow and to improve the quality of the air.

Prepare Your Backyard

Summer is the perfect opportunity to be outdoors. You want to be enjoying the warm weather and sunshine when it’s out. Therefore, you can get your home ready for summer by preparing your backyard. Get out the power washer and give your deck or patio a good cleaning. You may also want to consider researching Above Ground Pools and put one in if you have kids. This way you can cool off and have fun at home without having to travel to the local swimming pool. If you like working outdoors and growing your own food you may also want to plant a garden. Take the time to trim back overgrown trees and bushes and put new mulch in the beds.

    Perform A Deep Clean

The change of seasons is ideal for performing a deep cleaning of your home. Now is your chance to tackle areas and items you often ignore or put off such as appliances and the basement. Summer is also a good time to remove all items from your garage, wash the floor, and get everything organized. You’ll want to make sure you have easy access to and can quickly find all of your summer necessities and tools. If you want to avoid using harsh chemicals to clean your home then consider making your own natural cleaning supplies.

      Wash & Check Your Windows

You’re going to want to have your windows open in the summertime when it’s not too hot. You’ll also want to pull back drapes and blinds and let in as much natural light as possible. Get your home ready for summer by giving your windows a good cleaning inside and out. Remove dirt and grime build-up and check the windows for any cracks or leaks. You should also make sure that all the locks on your windows are working properly. You want your home to be secure and to confirm that the screens are in good condition.
