One of the hardest things about starting university is knowing how to choose the right location to study. Although it may be tempting to move far away in order to experience university in full, there are lots of incredible reasons to choose to study close to home. From minimizing your living costs to allowing you to be close to your friends and family, studying close to home doesn't mean you have to miss out. Whether you're studying your undergraduate degree or your Master's, it's a great choice. With that in mind, here are 5 reasons to study close to home:

You Don't Have To Think About Moving Costs

One of the best reasons to study close to home is because you don’t have to think about any moving costs. Moving across the country in order to do your degree can be incredibly expensive but if you’re deciding to study within travelling distance of your existing home, you may find that you’re able to stay put. Although you won’t have the feeling of staying in a student dorm, you definitely won’t miss out on making friends and attending parties. You’ll just be able to head home to your comfy bed afterwards. For a guide to socializing in university, you can visit this site here.

It's Much Cheaper In Terms Of Living

If you are going to be living in your current home or staying with your parents, chances are your living costs are going to be much lower. Student dorms can be overpriced for what you get and when it comes to the daily living cost, it’s often much higher as a student. Staying home can reduce these costs significantly. For more tips and tricks when it comes to reducing your costs as a student, you can visit this site here.

You Can Keep Your Current Job

For those that have a job that they enjoy and want to progress in, studying close to home will give you the chance to stay in the role you’ve worked hard to get. Although this usually only applies to those that are studying for their Master’s, having the option to keep your job can be extremely beneficial when it comes to graduating. Whether you have a degree from USA.edu or a Master’s in finance, remaining in employment can really help.

You'll Be Close To Your Family And Friends

If you want to be closer to your family and friends while you study then staying close to home is the best option. Although you can make new friends while you’re studying, there’s nothing quite like having the support of your loved ones whilst you’re struggling with your studies (or celebrating your achievements).

You'll Be Familiar With The Area

Finally, staying closer to home means you’ll be familiar with the area you’re studying in. If any of your friends are doing the same, at least you will have your friends in the area to hang out with as well. Speaking of which, you better visit these guys and get your graduation announcements ordered. It's easy to remember to invite the family and co-workers to your graduation celebration and party, but friends love an invite too. So don't forget them in all the busy-ness.
