Does your home feel like it's stuck in a time warp? There are many ways to spruce up your home without breaking the bank. Whether it's a new rug or a fresh coat of paint on the walls, there are many affordable ways to make your home look great.

Don't Go Straight To The High-End

Avoid buying expensive furniture. You don't have to break the bank when revamping your home on a budget. Instead, consider what you already own for each room and see if there are ways to make it work with new furniture or paint colors without spending too much money. Even simple things like buying colorful throw pillows for couches can add some character while still remaining affordable. However, if you do need to purchase new furniture, be smart about how to pay for it. Even if stores offer payment plans, it will sometimes be more affordable in the long run to buy them on your credit card as long as you know you will pay it off in time. But even there, you can save a few bucks on interest when you compare credit companies.

Flooring

Don't forget about flooring options, either. Painting existing floors is usually far less expensive than purchasing brand-new carpet, tile, etc., while giving any area a fresh look. If re-painting isn't an option at all, then stick with temporary rugs that won't get ruined by dirt or pet hair and can be easily washed. Just remember not to sacrifice safety in the process. Never settle for rugs that are too thin or could slip and cause a fall, especially with children around.

Find Inspiration

Take advantage of free home decorating magazines. Most cities have several publications which are distributed for free throughout public places like city halls and libraries. These pages often include great ideas that can be used as inspiration when redecorating your home. Also, be sure to check out free local magazines and national ones like Better Homes and Gardens for unique ideas that can be applied to any room in the house.

Wall Art

Utilize wall art more often than usual. Wall décor is typically one of the least expensive ways to revamp your space. You don't need to fill up every inch with paintings or photos. Instead, consider placing a large piece of wall art above the couch to bring some life into an otherwise dull area. Just be sure not to put it too high so you can actually see it from your favorite spot. If done correctly, this works well with or without any other décor on surrounding walls. As long as there is enough space for people walking around and everyone's eyes are still drawn up towards the focal point.

Bring Nature Indoors

Consider hanging potted plants off ceilings and beams instead for those who love plants but don't want anything taking up their entire floor space. Use decorative hooks that match your house color scheme if possible. This creates a unique look while also ensuring they're out of reach of children and pets who could accidentally knock them over. Just be sure to measure the area before purchasing anything so they can fit comfortably without falling or looking too crowded.

Shuffle It Around

Create a unique design with your furniture arrangement. For those who are short on space, consider rearranging rooms slightly to create more open areas. This works incredibly well in bedrooms where you don't have many other options for freeing up floor space like living rooms. Ensure there is still enough room for walking around and that all necessary appliances like lamps will still work at their intended locations. Just because everything moves doesn't mean it'll look good if done incorrectly. If possible, try keeping more prominent pieces of furniture centered against walls while pulling small ones between two doorways instead. It leaves things feeling less cluttered while also allowing for more open floor space.
