Most home floodings due to burst pipes occur in the basement but they can also occur in places where we use water a lot, such as the kitchen. If you come home one day to a flooded house from a water pipe flooding, you shouldn’t panic because there are some things you can do to save your home from disaster. Firstly, you need to turn off all the power. Then try and find the source of the leak. This might be difficult because the leak could now be underwater. But, look for some bubbles and it should locate the leak. Now what you need to do are a few of the following things.

Clear the area
You need a water pump to clear the area so you can get your hands on the source of the leak. However, you need to have a water pump that is submersible. Take a look at these Tsurumi pumps which are portable and can be stored in your home. They come with all the parts that you need to slowly but surely, drain your home of the water. Even if you have wastewater which is thicker and can have a lot of debris in it, these pumps can filter and drain your home without becoming clogged and jammed. Use this kind of pump away from the leak because you’ll just be pumping the water that is coming out, ending up trapped in a cycle, instead of standing water.
A hose and funnel
If the leak is very pressurized, then you will have trouble stopping it without getting a good look at it. So, get a funnel and a hose so you can allow the water to drain outside of your home in a controlled manner. The funnel should catch the water straight out of the leak, while the funnel’s thinner end remains in the hose to direct the water outside.
Record the leak
Just in case you cannot fix the leak yourself, it's a good idea to take some video of the leak with your phone. Use the LED torch to record the leak so it's clearly visible. This way you can send it to a local handyman plumber and he or she can tell you what is causing the leak.
Try the basics
See if you can tighten the valve and get the leak to stop. See if there’s a crack in the pipe or a tear which could be the cause of it. Turn the water coming into the house off and see if you can replace the water pipe linking section completely. If it is a larger problem then you will need to consider buying a brand new water pipe instead.
Proper insulation
A lack of insulation can cause the pipes to crack and burst. This is because a very cold pipe, with rushing hot water inside it, is expanding very rapidly due to the temperature change. So properly insulating your pipes will prevent a pipe from bursting in the future.
A submersible water pump is very handy and quite lightweight. You can also try replacing the valve or link section which both takes a majority of the pressure force.
