No Sale
You might find that your property gets stuck on the market. There are a lot of reasons why this could happen and if it goes on too long it can be catastrophic for you financially. You can end up with bills that are too high for you to pay and that will leave you with building levels of debt. There are lots of reasons why a home doesn’t sell. It could be the wrong time for the market or the asking price might be a little too high. You might also find that you haven’t kept the home up to date in terms of the design and the decor. Most buyers are not looking for the fixer-upper. They want the dream property and that means you should be putting the work in while you own it.
Property Damage
One of the biggest and most common disasters that you can face when you move home is damage to the property that needs to be relocated. Be aware that it may not be in your best interest to trust typical movers with items that are valuable or are particularly important to you. Instead, to transport fragile items, you might want to consider investing in a specialist service. This can provide you with the peace of mind you need.
You might also want to explore your insurance options carefully. Insurance is the best way to guarantee that you are financially covered if an item is lost or damaged. Make sure that you watch out for exceptions where cover will not provide financial support.
An Expensive Repair
Of course, it could be the case that the issue is with the property that you’re moving to. A lot of homeowners arrive at the new property only to discover that there are a lot of issues with it that they simply weren’t prepared for. There could be problems with the pipes, the electric wiring, or even the structural foundation of the home. If you are worried about this then do make sure that you get a home survey before you move. This should always be on your list of things to do before finalizing the purchase of a property.
A Failed Purchase
Finally, there can be times when a home purchase doesn’t go through. While there is no way to prevent this, it’s important to understand the position of the seller when you buy a home. You need to watch out for any signs that they might not be able to complete the sale, including the fact that they haven’t managed to find a home to move to yet.
We hope this helps you understand the key home disasters that you can face and the best way to avoid them when you are preparing to move to a new place.
