While every individual has a vision of their dream kitchen in their head or on multiple images pinned to their dream kitchen board on Pinterest, a full-scale renovation might not be within budget at the moment. Despite this, you may feel the need to make some changes to your kitchen, to update its look and feel.

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It is the room used the most by every member of the family to prepare healthy meals and work on other types of projects. It is, therefore, essential that it stays in top shape. Below are some simple ways to update the look of your kitchen while on a budget.

Update Your Lighting

Switching up the lighting in your kitchen can update its whole look and feel and make the space much easier to work in. You can look for inexpensive but modern lighting fixtures either online or at local stores.

Consider adding some pendants over your peninsula or island. A string of tiny white lights or puck lighting under your counter will also add ambiance and illuminate the counters for working.

Open Up Your Walls

Removing some of the upper cabinets in your kitchen can go a long way in transforming it and updating its look. Making this change will make your kitchen feel more modern, lighter, and more functional. You could either opt to remove the doors and hardware from some of your upper shelves or get rid of some of the upper cabinets altogether.

Switch to open shelves displaying items such as cookbooks, everyday dishes, fresh herbs, and serving platters. Open shelves are more convenient for grabbing and putting away dishes after use. To prevent the space from feeling cluttered, ensure that you stack the dishes according to color and shapes.

Change out Your Hardware

Upgrading your kitchen hardware, such as the sinks and faucets, requires a little investment of time and money, but it can make a big impact on your kitchen's look. Allora USA offers modern kitchen hardware at affordable rates.

You may also replace the knobs to your kitchen cabinets with pieces with a modern feel, such as sleek polished chrome, black knobs, and brass. If you choose this option, ensure that you keep an eye out for the price per piece while shopping to stay on budget. The price can add up fast, especially if your kitchen has many cabinets.

Paint the Walls

If you are content with your cabinets but your kitchen space still feels a little bit basic and uninviting, a good idea would be to switch things up by painting a new color on the walls. Whether you opt for a bright color or a darker hue, ensure that the color you select complements your kitchen cabinets and other hardware.

Add a Backsplash

Adding a backsplash to your kitchen can do wonders in updating its look and feel. A backsplash will make your kitchen feel modern, even if you opt for a simple design like old oak cabinets with white subway tiles.

Incorporate ceramic tiles for a fun look. Wainscoting panels or shiplap can help you achieve a beautiful and inexpensive backsplash.

Updating the look of your kitchen calls for creativity and strategy. Consider implementing some of the above simple tips to update your kitchen's look while on a budget.
