As we head further into the winter season, the idea of going out is becoming less and less appealing. With cold weather, wind and rain, we would much prefer to be sad in the warm and dry rather than having to navigate public transport and other aspects of going out. Yet this doesn’t mean that you can’t still have a great date night in with your other half. This is why we have put together some fun at home dates to try that are sure to be just as fun (if not more) than going out…

A board game evening

Board game nights are great fun and enable you to do something a bit different. There are a host of board games out there that you can play, including on a cribbage board, chess, or monopoly. Be prepared for things to get competitive! You can get some snacks such as nachos, chips and burgers that make for a delicious dinner and get a couple of bottles of wine to share while you play the games.

A home cinema night

There is nothing like going to the cinema, so why not bring the cinema home to you? Set up your living room to look like a cinema – you could even get in a projector to make a big screen. Print out tickets and get in snacks such as popcorn in buckets, sweets, nachos and large cups of coca-cola. You can get blankets and cushions laid out on the floor and have a romantic evening watching all your favorite movies in a cozy den.

An at-home date box

There are many at-home date boxes on the market, it’s up to you to choose the one you want. At-home date boxes are great as they come with everything you need to have a fantastic themed date night at home. For example, there is a date box that is circus themed where you can play a range of circus games and has face paint, as well as so many more.

Creating your own restaurant experience

Why not bring a restaurant home to you? Get your dining table set up with a tablecloth and everything you need for an at-home restaurant experience. Make a three course menu, add in palette cleansers and get some fancy napkins. These will take your date night dining up a notch and be a meal that you won’t forget in a hurry. You can both get dressed up and enjoy each other's company.

These are just a few top fun at home dates to try. They are sure to be great fun and you will get the chance to spend time with your other half in a simple and cost-effective way. You don’t need to worry about going out, getting a car or transport, or how you will make it home at the end of the night. What are some top date night ideas that you like to try? Will you be doing any from the list? Let us know in the comments below.
