Household chores are never going to be the most exciting part of your day, but they don’t have to be soul-destroying either. If you’re fed up with spending all of your time tidying your home or clearing up other people’s mess, it’s time to make some changes to your routine. With these handy hacks, you can make your household chores easier than ever.

Give everyone a job

Everyone in your home should play an active role in keeping it tidy, neat and organized. Even young kids can undertake age-appropriate chores, so make sure everyone has a job they’re in charge of. When the chores are split evenly between older members of the household, maintaining a clean and tidy home takes a fraction of the time.

Furthermore, you won’t feel that you’re dealing with the brunt of the household tasks, which takes a weight off your mind and prevents resentment from building up. If you’re not sure how to split the chores, start by making a list of everything that needs to be done and hold a family meeting to decide who’s going to do what.

Keep rooms clutter-free

If you have to remove a whole load of clutter before vacuuming or wiping down surfaces, chores are going to be time-consuming. By committing to a clutter-free lifestyle, however, you can complete daily chores quickly and without any hassle.

As well as making light work of everyday chores, this approach also helps when it comes to less frequent tasks, such as moving house. If your home is clutter-free, for example, it’s much easier to pack up your belongings before they’re shipped to your new home. With help from professionals, like Allied Van Lines, an uncluttered home can be packed up and transported in no time. What’s more, a streamlined home requires much less effort to pack up, which means less hassle and lower moving costs.

Try natural cleaning

If you don’t want your home to be filled with potentially harmful chemicals, give natural cleaning products a try. In addition to buying pre-mixed natural cleaning solutions, you can make your own with everyday ingredients. Many people find that vinegar is a fantastic cleaning agent, for example, and can add sparkle and shine to glass and mirrors.

However, do be aware that even natural cleaning products can cause damage if they’re used on the wrong type of surfaces. Be sure to research thoroughly before using any new product and don’t mix any ingredients together until you’ve confirmed that it’s safe to do so.

Make Chores Part of Your Schedule

When you’re busy with work, school and recreational activities during the week, it can seem hard to commit to doing chores too. However, this means your weekends are taken up by endless chores that have built up over the week. By spending a few minutes completing chores every day, you can greatly reduce the amount of time you spend tidying and cleaning at the weekends. Once you begin to enjoy your free time again, you’ll be even more motivated to spend a few extra minutes keeping things shipshape every day.
